Christie is so personable and just makes you feel so comfortable. I cannot imagine having a wedding without Christie. Her day of coordinator package still includes a lot that goes beyond the day of. Phone calls, emails, zoom calls - Christie was there to answer all my questions along the way. She joined the rehearsal dinner which was super super helpful and I’m so glad we get a chance to practice walking down the aisle, the order of things, and how to hold the bouquet etc. Planning a wedding is stressful enough and she took on a lot for me and a lot of behind the scenes work. She does extra things like making a schedule for the vendors and contacting vendors the week of to follow up. She gives you a schedule to follow months leading up the wedding so you stay on track. I’m not even sure how people manage without a coordinator to be honest. Also, included in her package is her assistant that helps her on the day of so it’s actually like having 2 coordinators! On my wedding day she went above and beyond. She even got there early to help my florist set up the flowers on the ceremony arch way, which took quite a bit of time. It was really hot on our wedding day and she frequently checked in with us during pictures. Bringing us water, spritzing us with cool water, and offering us electrolyte water (I managed to stay hydrated even with the alcohol that night lol). Christie is a really special person and I’m so glad I had her as my day of coordinator. Thank you so much Christie and Teresa!

Christie was AMAZING!! I am so happy I hired her. Not only is she professional, she is very sweet! Such great attitude and positive energy. I can tell she loves what she does. She is very attentive on what needs to be done. I hired her for set up and tear down for my wedding, (although if a wedding coordinator was in my budget I would have definitely hired her in a heartbeat.) She went above and beyond. Christie was incredibly organized and supportive throughout wedding planning. Though we had her as a day-of-coordinator, she was still very present in the months and weeks leading up to the wedding day to ensure that planning was going well and that we were on the same page. Rula and her team did not disappoint! Our wedding was May 16th. Rula went above and beyond for us from picking up our wedding favours and dropping them to the venue to doing a beautiful memorial table for my husband’s mother. Amanda is truly the best in the business! She will tell what she offers, and how she can help make your day less stressful.... now times that by 1000 and that is the amount of heart and work she will put into making your dream wedding day come true! She doesn’t just “do the job” she promised; she truly made me feel like she cared about my day just as much as I did. I was completely stress free for my wedding ( which I did not think was possible) and the day was more perfect and beautiful than I could’ve even imagined in my wildest dreams. If you do not hire Amanda, it will be a mistake. ( also, all of this is being said, and I actually at one time was working in wedding planning myself, so my expectations were quite high)

we started our wedding journey thinking "we got this!!!" oh no we didn't! after booking our major vendors, giving ourselves a pat on the back and taking a "well deserved break" it was roughly 6 months to our wedding and we felt like nothing had been done... already so much was going wrong (but that's another story) so i reached out to Amanda (who also happens to be an incredible cousin) she took the reins right away on top of her already busy schedule to help us plan the wedding of our dreams! we felt absolutely 0 stress in the days leading up to the wedding! as a bride, i thought i would've been nervous and what not... nop, i was DIY-ing a sweater that i wanted to wear the day of the wedding 2 days before! thats how at ease we were before the wedding! We hired Amber Walker Events for our son's wedding rehearsal dinner, located at Navy Hall, on the grounds of Fort George in Niagara-on-the-Lake. I had a vision of bringing the War of 1812 to our guests at this venue. From the start, Amber and her associate, Bradley, were excited to go to work to bring this vision to life. Their ideas and suggestions really brought this event to the next level. Complete with a re-enactment on the grounds, Amber and Bradley transformed the space into a grand dining room, circa 1812, complete with British flag items, period furniture, gorgeous rich tapestries, flag-themed candles, and color coordinated fresh flowers which adorned beautiful table linens. The entire space was transformed to a period in history, which not only accentuated the architecture of the building itself, but brought it to a level of sophisticated elegance for a modern day event. Amber and Bradley were an absolute joy to work with. Their passion for their work was genuine and professional and their attention to detail was superior. They were flexible, reliable, and on top of everything at all times, allowing our family and our guests to relax and enjoy a truly magnificent and memorable evening. They knocked it out of the park!

Attended a wedding in Canmore last week. Nicki was amazing. She coached all the hotel staff to ensure everything was exactly as the bride and groom had requested. She made all of the wedding party and parents bouquets and boutonnières which were beyond amazing. She was extremely well organized, and you could tell she loved what she was doing. The result was a flawless event. Bonus points: Her husband was a fabulous DJ, and is also an amazing musician and the guitarist for a long standing favourite local band . I highly recommend Nicki. She’s the real deal.

What can you say to describe Maren? Talented, gifted and professional don't even begin to cover how wonderful Maren is at what she does. TLDR: Besides an open bar 😉, hiring Maren was the single best investment for making our wedding dreams come to life.

As a groom, hiring a wedding coordinator/planner seemed like an unnecessary expense -something a smart, organized couple could hand on their own. And to be fair, if you hire the wrong person, that might still be true. But Maren is absolutely the RIGHT person.

We were planning our wedding from Florida, nearly 3,000 miles (4,800 km) away from Banff. Doing that without someone on the ground seemed daunting. We reached out to about ten different planners across Banff, Canmore, and Calgary. A lot of them sounded the same and had similar common ‘glowing’ reviews— “extremely helpful and attentive”, “goes above and beyond”, “very responsive and organized” — which, while reassuring, didn’t help us distinguish one from another or help ensure we were getting the best value for the right price. What really sets a coordinator apart is experience, honesty, and trust. That’s where Maren shines.

Maren has extensive experience – first working in the wedding industry on the venue side before starting her own business as a coordinator for the couples looking to get married in the Bow Valley area. She has worked with both small and large budget weddings, with ranging guest-sized weddings at almost every venue possible in the area. Throughout the planning process, we had the opportunity to get to know both Maren and her husband (to be) Max. Both of whom are genuinely amazing people who have become life-long friends and the bonds we formed with them extend far beyond the wedding planning process.

What makes Maren unique is her ability to (tactfully) give her honest opinion on all decisions. Even though we technically hired Maren for day-of coordination, she became our go-to resource for vendor quotes, decor decisions, and even activity suggestions for our families during the week. Most couples only plan a wedding once—Maren has done it over 150 times. When a vendor quote seemed high, she helped us negotiate or find better alternatives. She is 100% on your team, and although she does have a great vendor list of people she’s worked with in the past, she is not biased to them and will always make sure you have the best product for your big day. One example that stands out: we had a questionable plan to move 100 chairs from our ceremony to the reception space. Maren didn’t just raise a red flag—she came back with five better options, complete with logistics and pricing. Her honesty and problem-solving turned a logistical headache into a simple, elegant solution. That kind of proactive communication is rare, and it’s exactly why we trusted her so completely.

A relationship built on trust with your wedding coordinator is crucial, it takes time to be formed during the planning process so that on the day of your wedding you trust them to make decisions on your behalf. On our wedding day, I think the only decision I made was saying “I do”. Maren did everything else: coordinating vendors, wrangling an 8-person band, managing setup and teardown, keeping us on schedule, and even handling tipping. Only the next morning did I fully realize how crucial Maren was to our special day, our master of all, behind the scenes making sure everything was perfect!

If you’ve made it this far you probably get the idea that Maren is a very special and talented wedding coordinator, and you would be lucky to work with her in planning your wedding. She currently leads every wedding herself and limits the number she takes on so each couple gets her full attention. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if she expands her team soon and starts training someone to take the lead on a wedding or two. We were lucky enough to meet two of her great assistants (because of the size of the wedding), Harry and Laura, and they were both fantastic support on our wedding day!

We were coming to the Bow Valley from out of town and didn't know much about the local vendors for an October wedding. We took advantage of Maren's full wedding planning service and she was a huge help in connecting us with the vendors we needed, including some that we would have never found on our own! She assisted us for both our welcome reception and wedding day. We appreciated how she was very conscientious of both our budget and our needs and wants for the wedding. She even laid out contingency plans in case of bad weather given the time of year (Turned out our wedding day was a perfect weather day despite the constant rain throughout the week). Amanda and Lexine are single handedly responsible for the stress free wedding day that my husband and I were able to enjoy. We spent a year planning our day and Captivating Occasions was right there to provide guidance all along the way. The spreadsheet that these two put together to keep our wedding day on track was so appreciated by not only us but all our vendors. Amanda and Lexine ran our rehearsal, set up our decor, ran our wedding day and came back late in the evening to take everything down and pack up. As the Bride and Groom we truly didn't have to worry about a thing all day and not to mention our parents and bridal party were also able to fully enjoy the day. I have been following Destination Wedding Planners on Instagram for a year before my now husband popped the question.
