Food was amazing but our server was not very friendly. I asked her if their gnocchi is typically served softer than the pastas and she replied with “do you know what a gnocchi is?” Yes I do know, I wouldn’t have ordered it if I didn’t. I simply asked if they’re typically served softer than how other restaurants would, which are chewier.

I know a serving shift can be long, I’m a server too but I hope in the future, they can approach a genuine open-minded question with a bit of compassion and not a condescending tone

4.5 stars. Overall delicious, pasta had a good chew, flavours were decent, and food was served decently quickly. I felt the octopus salad was a bit overpriced.

Really liked the ambiance! Really cozy and intimated, tables are on the smaller end, great for a date night or a group dinner hangout.

A long overdue review, had a family dinner here in a group of 6 last year. The food and service were both excellent. Worth noting though is we were told the tiramisu wasn’t “too big” so two people ended up ordering it and it took the whole table chipping it to eat them. They are massive!
It’s a bit out of the way for me but if I’m ever in the area I’d be happy to eat here again and try other dishes.

We had a wonderful time at Enoteca. Our chef's table reservation was well worth it; we were seated directly at the bar with a perfect view of the kitchen. The chef prepared a special menu for us, and everything was exceptional, from the prosciutto (which included lamb, duck, and beef) to the beet salad, the refreshing and tasty octopus dish, and the two pasta courses and main course. It was quite filling. At $100 per person, with the option of wine pairing, it's an ideal date night for couples. The service was also excellent. Reservations for the chef's table require prepayment.

Came here as it was a recommended place to try - the food was great and we were happy to be seated 20 mins before our reservation.

The atmosphere is casual and we loved the open kitchen concept that allowed us to watch our food get prepared. Service overall was good but could improve - we waited a long time to order our dessert that we just ended up not wanting to wait any longer.

We had the sourdough bread with arancini, cacio e Pepe, lemon ricotta agnolotti and the brazino. All were great but the arancini stood out the most and is a must try dish at Enoteca. Cocktails were also great; not sure if we would come back but worth a try for those interested!

Went here for a friend’s birthday dinner and had a great time! The Fauna Burger and Iberian Pork were both super tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The service was pleasant overall, and while we didn’t see our server too often, everything we needed was taken care of. We also brought in a cake for the occasion, and just a quick heads-up for anyone planning the same, there’s a $5 per person fee for outside cakes. All in all, a really nice spot for a special night out!

The best steak I've ever had. I know it comes with a high price tag but what else can you expect? I don't know where they got it from or how they cooked it. All I know is I want it again. The tuna was good but I did much prefer the crab cake. The atmosphere and ambiance is spot-on and the staff were very friendly. If you have any Amex benefits, this is the place to spend them.

I went to fauna twice during a weeklong trip to Ottawa from Maine. I went to the restaurant in November 2019 and really enjoyed it and needed to go back. I absolutely loved it and tried various dishes. The staff were incredible—they were very relatable, friendly and easy to talk to. You could tell they really enjoyed working there and I’ll definitely go back again! Felix worked on the second night I was there and his customer service was impeccable just as the other team members were the week before.

If you have the time, go to this restaurant—it won’t disappoint.

The sliced bison was delicious. The sage pasta was good but could have used a protein option. The maple pound cake was a good mix of maple and foie gras and ice cream. The Sage Daiquiri and Botanicals in Spring were amazing. Excellent service from our waitress. Efficient, friendly, and attentive. Cab+cab by the glass worked well too.

I wanted to share my wonderful experience with Fauna. I work in the restaurant industry, and I'm able to recognize how hard an establishment works to make the guest experience absolutely perfect. Fauna fell no short of that.

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the what I can assume to be a manager, he was smiley and sat me immediately after confirming my reservation. I was then greeted by the talented and welcoming Sydney. From then on, she expertly guided me through the various and impressive wine selections. It was my birthday dinner and they brought over several tasters until I found the perfect glass of white wine.

After looking over their seasonal and rotating menu, I decided on their: soft shell crab dish, fish cakes, and their truffle cacio e Pepe. Sydney got that in for me right away and in no time I was brought the first dish. Their soft shell crab was crunchy, crispy and flavourful. It had a crunchy and fresh daikon slaw. It was paired with a fish egg mayo that had such a lovely texture with the soft shell crab. The plate was practically clean.

Brought out next was Thai fish cakes. The curried lobster bisque was so spicy but in such a thoughtful way. It wasn't offensive but paired nicely with the texture of the fish cakes and the subtlety of the creme fraiche. I was starting to get full after two "appetizer" plates but I couldn't say no to their cassarecce pasta.

It came out and looked like it came out of a Michelin star restaurant. They did not skimp on the black truffle. You could tell the pasta was fresh. The heaviness of the Louis d'or was honestly so satisfying. I would come back just for this pasta alone. It was fulfilling and delicious. At this point I couldn't bear to think of dessert, though I really wanted to. Which means I'll have to come back for a second visit.

The chefs and creative team in the kitchen know exactly what they are doing. I have heard from MANY people in the restaurant industry that Fauna is by far the best restaurant in Ottawa, for Canadian and fine dining cuisine. I was not disappointed and am proud to say I wholeheartedly agree. They were utilizing local and seasonal ingredients throughout the meal. Not only was the food fantastic but the entire ambiance of the restaurant speaks for why Fauna deserves #1. The male bartender (didn't grab his name) and Sydney made me constantly feel special and like a welcome guest in the restaurant, even on a slower Sunday evening. The personalized attention in my conversations with them both were top notch. I cannot speak enough about how truly amazing this meal was. For a first time diner, but a forever fan now, Fauna you deserve accolades beyond belief. Thank you, for the best meal, in the city that fun forgot (but it wasn't forgotten at Fauna).

I spent roughly $110+ on the whole check but I would highly suggest coming with another person as I was indulgent, the two first plates could easily be shareables.

Robert, the consummate professional, was always ready with a suggestion, witty retort or drink refill. The man knows his stuff. We went twice, first time I ordered the Sea Bass which was delicate and fresh, a tad small for the price but wonderful none the less. We had started with a eggplant parmesan for the table and it was 2 pieces perfectly cooked. A round of old fashions were nice, made to the old measure. The deserts of cheesecake and creme Brulé were fresh and nicely presented. I'm not crazy about having a 10 dollar bottle of Evian poured when I ask for still water, might want to clarify with everyone first that its bottled still or tap. I enjoy paying for things i order, I just don't like to see surprises.
We went back a second night as we were staying in the area as I had observed folks having the wood fired pizza and thought it looked great. My meat palooza was excellent, although the dough was a tad bit tough, maybe overworked. My friend had the Fiamma pizza and was unimpressed, i tried it and found the flavours disappointing after my wonderfully meaty treat. The Caesar salad was as described, pedestrian, but fresh and crisp.
I must mention the other two wait staff present. A tall handsome man was engaging and efficient and the lovely blonde recognized us from days earlier, welcomed us back and I noticed her level of attention with clients was excellent. Keep up the good work. We will likely be back.

The service was really great! Everyone was very nice and welcoming. Overall the food was good. The coffee and the cake were to die for! Only complaint is the salmon was over cooked, it tasted a bit hard. Also the price point is a bit higher, that is to be expected.

Great authentic Italian food with cozy ambiance. Friendly service with great wine and entrees selection. The pizza is made with real wood fired stone oven. The day specials are a must, very recommended 👌🏼

When you walk in at 15:30 and some Italian Gentlemen are quietly handling business while enjoying a late lunch... you know you've found a place that serves good Italian.

The bread was just standard.
Everything else was delicious. I ordered the Caesar salad - it was deliciously creamy. I ordered the Veal Ragu Bolognese - it was savory and heavy and I was quite filled afterwards. I did not have room for a dessert.

The restaurant takes up multiple units and is quite large. I guess they can seat 100. The decor is tasteful classy. The washrooms are very nice. I always judge a restaurant by is washrooms.

My server was a professional. I mean a professional server. He was excellent.

Had a wonderful time and really enjoyed my meal. I highly recommend the Tortre! The staff was very friendly and provided excellent service. Thank you!

We enjoyed the first Saturday brunch they newly offer. It was incredible. We initially stopped in right at 10:30 am to check the place out and book a Sunday brunch and ended up staying. The manager gave us kindly a tour and was very friendly. The variety and quality of the food was fantastic.
Our server Christine was attentive and just wonderful. We will be spreading the word and return.

My husband and I just came here tonight to celebrate our wedding anniversary and my god. Our server Olivia was such a sweetie and just amazing! We came here for the prime rib night and it was delicious. Vegetables were cooked, the prime rib was seasoned nicely and the dessert was excellent! Not too sweet at all. Beautiful area as well. I'd highly recommend coming here for prime rib night. We'll be coming here again soon for brunch!

Amazing experience! We celebrated our anniversary here and it was truly unforgettable. The food was absolutely delicious—every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. 10/10 wedding venue. Had the pleasure of DJing an awesome last night. Super easy to load in and set up for both ceremony and reception. Great acoustics. Elegant modern interior. Warm lighting. Oh and the food, maybe the best I’ve ever had. For sure the best beef and mashed potatoes I’ve ever had. Dessert was equally unreal. The staff were friendly and on point with everything. Will be looking forward to the next one!

I made this reservation for our trip to Montreal, wanting to ensure we had some good French cuisine. While I wasn't disappointed, we did walk into another place that was better. However, with that said, Gaspar had the most amazing Octopus appetizer I think I've ever had (and I've tried plenty of Octopus dishes!). The grilled meat was sandwiched between "salad" and had a black garlic sauce that was to die for! For dinner, my partner had the braised beef and I had grilled salmon. Both were excellent.

We came here for brunch and unfortunately, it was disappointing. The latte didn’t have any nice art and the taste was bland. The food presentation was not appealing, and the flavors didn’t deliver either. With so many great brunch spots in Montreal, this one really falls short.

The food was delicious but the kitchen seemed to get a number of steak orders incorrect watching the room. Don't hesitate to ask them to correct, they did so promptly. Limited menu but was very good. All was reasonable in price. The selection of in-house cocktails was intriguing. I would go back again.

We enjoyed our visit. Our server was friendly and attentive, and our favorite dish was the tuna tartare! While the steak we ordered medium rare was cooked closer to medium, we didn't want to interrupt our meal by sending it back. The sea bass was also very tasty, but the salmon could have used more flavor. For dessert, the crème brûlée had great flavor, but the consistency was a bit too runny. Overall, we had a good experience and would visit again.

This review is almost a year overdue, but I found the card in my desk and wanted to make sure I gave Marguerite her credit if she still works here! My husband and I drove up to Montreal for the day and had a wonderful meal here to celebrate our anniversary. She and the rest of the staff were so friendly and helpful, we had a beautiful meal. The food was delicious and flawless, we took home leftovers that we enjoyed just as much the next day. Whenever we are in Montreal next we will definitely be back!

Came here with 4 other friends, and we had made a reservation earlier in the day for 6pm on a Sunday. I highly recommend making a reservation because when we were starting to get our food, a line started building, and by 7pm it was quite a long line.

The food itself was delicious. You have to get the mushroom pasta and calamari. The ragu, Alfredo pizza, and Caesar salad were all good but the mushroom pasta was the star. Sangria was good too but it wasn't properly stirred so some of our glasses were more boozy than others. For 6 dishes + sangria, our bill was about $55 per person which I thought was very reasonable.

As well, the interior of the restaurant looks sick. It has multiple levels and the whole front is open to the street but it still feels so comfortable and cozy. I definitely will be back in the future

We had a lovely time! The food and service were really great. There was a bit of noise, but we could still chat easily. The staff was super helpful and explained the menu options and potential substitutions with a smile. Their house bread was absolutely fantastic, and the Cavolo Nero salad was delicious, especially with the salmon we added—it was cooked just perfectly! The American burger was decent, but the real star of the meal was the Funghi Pizza. It had three or four types of mushrooms that were wonderfully caramelized. Overall, it was such a positive experience to enjoy a meal with good friends!

I went here for dinner and it was really good! The building itself is so pretty with like three or four whole stories of seating. The food was also really yummy, especially the mushroom pasta it was so good. The only thing was that our mains took quite a while to arrive. It took around maybe 30-40 minutes to arrive which was on the longer side and a little unexpected as our appetizers came out quick. Otherwise a pretty good experience! 😁

Came for lunch and was thoroughly satisfied. I’ve been here a few times and I’m always impressed with the food. The mafaldine funghi is my favourite and hits the spot. The pizzas are also fantastic. Tried the carbonara pizza and did not regret it, amazing pie! Ended with some pancakes the ended the meal perfectly. One of my fav spots for Italian.

We thoroughly enjoyed the open-air balcony on the top floor, which was four stories up, and the kitchen on the main floor, where we ended up dining when it began to rain. The only comment from the group was that it was warm, but otherwise, everything was excellent.

The pasta was cooked to perfection and was absolutely delicious. I also greatly appreciated the selection of wines available on tap for a dollar an ounce. Furthermore, their house lager was perfect for a warm day on the balcony.

While there is seating on every floor, please be aware that you will need to use the stairs. I would recommend making a reservation on the main floor if you have any difficulty with stairs, as it can get quite busy.

I have been here three times. One time for brunch and two other at night to party. It’s always a beautiful, amazing experience. Despite being the same place they always manage to have something new happening that makes your experience unique. The decoration is beautiful, the staff is amazing, so friendly, so welcoming. The music is always good! Can’t wait to go back again to be surprised one more time.

The appetizers that were ordered were the : bang bang crispy shrimp, charred cauliflower & the truffle honey burrata and everything was amazing !! The raspberry mojito was also very good.

As my main, I got the truffle mac & cheese and it was top notch perfect.

The service is also super fast & the waiters are so accommodating and sweet!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Jardin Azul and it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Our server made excellent recommendations and ensured we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Now the food — simply amazing. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The ingredients were fresh, and the attention to detail was clear in every bite.

My friend and I came here at the very last minute as we aborted our plans to go to the Old Port (due to terrible traffic). There was a parking lot across the street but beware it’s 24/7 and 2h will cost you $12. Jardin Azul immediately gave me Tulum vibes (I visited in March 2022) with its high bamboo looking walls to enter. The restaurant has high ceilings, is beautifully decorated and plays good music. Of course all the staff is gorgeous but they were also very nice. I would just recommend they dim the lights a bit more but the skylight adds to the experience of feeling outside but being covered.

We were very pleasantly surprised by how tasty the food was! The cocktails will run you over $22 each (which I find insane personally that this is the norm now, but not just them). At least my friend’s margarita was very strong & tasty! I just went for white wine, which was good too.

The watermelon feta salad was sooo good. The pistachio really elevated the flavour. We got the Caesar salad, creatively served in a crouton bowl and the truffle Mac and cheese, which was super delicious. We ordered cheesecake but by the time we got it we didn’t really want it anymore and it seemed like it was just a regular piece of NY style cheesecake. Only one dessert on the menu but I guess the crowd isn’t really going for that!

All in all, great experience. Would go back

This place caught me off guard! I am not a friend of the owners or staff, this is a completely unbiased review.
I went in with average expectations, assuming they would emphasize atmosphere and crowd over quality of food.

We ordered every single app on the menu and one main, we loved all of them except for the roasted cauliflower which was wet in texture and did not match the rest of the dishes in quality.
The prices were reasonable for both food and alcohol for what you got in return.
The staff was extremely friendly and on the ball, we all left happy with our experience and would go back.
Don’t think I’d stay past 10/1030pm

This charming place offers lunch and snacks (I highly recommend the cinnamon buns!). Kim started slaving away in her home kitchen to bring her home cooked deliciousness to catered events. As the business grew into favorable love, she expanded to this cafe... where you can stop by for lunch or a snack without an invite to her home :). Friendly people, wholesome food!

The fish and chips was pretty good I enjoyed my meal although I wish the fish was haddock and not pollock. For the price you pay best bang for your buck in Strathmore.

Excellent breakfast for only $6.99, including coffee (and all the cream you want.) The eggs are always perfect no matter which way I asked them to be cooked. The Cook came out to ask customers how they enjoyed their meal. Awesome place!

Great food at a reasonable price. Service is great. Part of our order got lost in the shuffle on a very busy evening (not a free seat in the place). Didn't complain, they picked up on it right away. Had to wait an extra 15 minutes or so, no big deal. Tried to pay, they comped the whole bill, and gave us pie!!! They had me at free home made pie!!! Have been there a dozen times at least, that was the only hiccup to speak of. Breakfast special every day until 11. $6 or $7 for a full breakfast. Just as fast as the McDicks here and 100 times the quality for breakfast. Can't go wrong!!!

This place is now called PJ,S. We had a family outing 4 adults and 2 children. Food was fantastic, big portions, tasty and it was presented well. Our waitress was very attentive, and frequently came back to make sure our needs were met. All entrees came with either soup or salad and at the end a piece of soooooo good pie all for under $15. Kids eat free after 4 so our total bill was under $65. This was our first time here but will most certainly not be our last. 5 stars for sure. And the owner/chef e cdn came and talked to us. Fantastic

I was at Le Madison in April 2015. The place was incapable. Everything was great except we had to wait for a bit for the room to be accessible. I recommend this place for any event. Furthermore, there is plenty of parking space at the back of the building. Thanks to the staff for the service.

It was an incredible date night experience. The food was impeccable and the staff were friendly and accommodating. What made the night perfect was our server Sebastian’s service, knowledge and recommendations. This was our first time dine-in here but definitely we will come back. And this is now one of our favorite restaurants. Chefs really know what they’re doing!

Atmosphere: The place has a really good night time casual atmosphere. More for gathering around with friends to catch up or even a date. Plenty space considering its located in downtown Toronto. Washrooms pretty clean and well kept even when busy. (We went with a group of 7 people on a Saturday night)

Service: The waiter we had he was very attentive, good service overall. He was the standout of the night.

Food: Food was disappointing. We wanted a lamb dish that was online but they didn't have it in their actual menu. A lot of the items in their menu they didn’t have available. A lot of their menu items in person varied from the ones online. Including some of the ingredients they used online were changed to cheaper ones on the menu in person.

We ordered:
-the snails were pretty good, fresh and didnt have any seafood flavor, but be aware is a VERY small portion of 6 snails per order (3/5 stars)
-bone marrow gave 2 pieces of bone marrow with some bread, pretty standard could get this in another place with better price (3/5)
- the burger (3/5 stars) pretty standard nothing special about it, can find it in another place with better price (missing in the pictures)
-seafood pasta had some seafood, dish was filling enough (2.5/5 stars) (missing in the pictures)
-steak frites: we ordered 4 dishes of that. 3 medium rares and one medium. The 3 medium rares came medium and the medium came well done. Portion was good, but incredibly salty. We also had the mashed potato on one of those and you could barely taste potato on it. For the price and the amount that you receive you can get better. (2.5/5)
- the duck was the most disappointed thing that we ordered. Had some beans that tasted like canned beans. And the duck had a good piece but it honestly tasted like a chinese bbq duck. Can get the same for waaaay cheaper price (1.5/5 stars)

- In addition we got cocktails and beer. They were nothing special or exciting.

Overall experience I would not recommmend this place. Toronto food scene is so rich and diverse you could get something better with the amount we paid. ($90-110 per person)

PS. We also waited around 1.5 hrs for our food to come to our table. Not very good waiting time.

Unfortunately, the food quality did not match the premium pricing. I ordered the bone-in ribeye ($175), and it was a major letdown — lacking flavor, not juicy, and far from the quality you’d expect at that price point. Across the board, the dishes were below average, offering little in terms of taste or presentation. Given the high cost and underwhelming execution, I would not recommend this restaurant.

Visited here with my husband and friends for the summerlicious dinner menu on a Tuesday.
We were seated promptly , and our server was very nice. We got some cocktails and wine, they have a good selection
But the food service took very long . It took at least an hour for just our appetizers to arrive .
Their escargot is delicious would definitely get that , the combination of the creaminess and the puff pastry was amazing .
The lamb shoulder and steak were good but the asparagus risotto lacked flavor .
Overall we had a nice time .

Visited le sélect since 2003! This time we friends of four had the whole patio garden to ourselves at the back. Great food and conversations in the summer breeze, from sunset to the quiet of the night… what more could we ask for ?! Especially loved the mussels and the roasted maple Brussels sprouts. The others are good too, the shrimp cocktail could skip

We recently visited Luxe Bistro. The overall impression was okay. There were three of us, including a child. Our child chose from the kids’ menu, while the two adults selected the prix fixe menu.We both started with the French onion soup. For the main courses, one of us ordered the crispy duck leg and the other had the New York steak. The duck was a little dry, and while the steak was cooked as requested (well done), the taste did not really impress, especially considering this is a steakhouse. We were expecting a bit more flavor from the meat.
On the positive side, the service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive without being intrusive, and the food arrived very quickly.
Overall, I would rate this experience 4 stars. I’m not sure if I will return, but I believe the restaurant still deserves recognition for its good service and efficiency.

The venue is cozy and relaxing with seating outside, inside, and there is a bar area.
Apart from regular tables there are cozy booths.
Background music was not too overwhelming, which was nice. We could keep a low table conversation.

Ordered a variety of foods for starters.
Started with the oysters and mussels.
Price per oyster was a little high but worth it. As for the mussels, they were amazing.

Due to the variety of food that was ordered for the table, I'm just getting a general consensus from the table of the satisfaction and value for money.
Salad was good and a decent portion.
There was not a single complaint about the food!

Food presentation was done with detail.

The staff:
The staff were very tentative and always checked on the table. Felt like we had 3 dedicated servers for our table at some stages.
The table stayed clean.
What was appreciated was that our cutlery was also replaced after our starters.
Another observation is that tables are cleaned rapidly after customers leave, thus improving the overall presentation of the restaurant.
Washrooms:
The washrooms are clean and fresh.

Due to the fact that it's not wheelchair friendly I can't give 5 star rating.

Came for their happy hour and the food was sooo delicious! Got the sliders and the mussels - the mussels are so worth it but the sliders are a bit on the smaller side (still yummy tho and I’d get again). My server James was so great too he gave me free bread to dip with the mussel sauce 🥳🥳

While wandering Ottawa we stopped here because we were hungry. We stayed on the patio.
We arrived at happy hour - so they had the drinks at a lower price. I had an Aperol Spritz which was nice. My husband had ginger ale.
For food I took the roasted chicken from the à la carte menu. I didn’t find it too flavorful. The mashed potatoes, the Bruxelles sprouts and the mushroom sauce though were very good. Only the meat wasn’t on my taste.
The hamburger my husband had was delicious. And we switched the usual fries with trouffle potatoes (which we saw at a table next to us).
The waiter was very nice, he was checking on us multiple times to be sure we had everything we needed.
Overall the experience was good.

Rich, melted cheese soaked into soft baguette with the sweetness of caramelized onions, creating a comforting bite.

The tangy-sweet apple compote paired beautifully with the savory smoked duck leg — though not deboned, the meat was tender and flavorful. The crisp braised red cabbage added a refreshing crunch, rounding out the dish with layered textures. Ottawa’s top three duck confit!!

The event venue is a hidden gem. On the outside it's unimpressive. The inside decor and atmosphere are impressive, however!
It's small compared to other venues, so it can fill up very quickly. The service was exquisite, and the staff very professional.
My only suggestion is let the guests know that there is more room for waiting upstairs.

I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at Maison Principale on Saturday, May 17, and I can’t say enough good things about this venue. It’s absolutely beautiful—every corner offers a perfect backdrop for photos, from the elegant interiors to the thoughtful architectural details.

The space was spotless and so well maintained, which makes a huge difference on a fast-paced wedding day. I also want to highlight how lovely it was to work with Natasha—she was so accommodating and kind, and even welcomed me to visit the venue ahead of the wedding to get familiar with the space. That extra step helped everything run even more smoothly on the big day.

The entire team at Maison Principale was professional, attentive, and truly dedicated to creating a seamless experience for everyone involved. I’m already looking forward to the next event there!

We had such a fantastic experience at MP for our wedding. From the moment we visited, Gabriella G. and Natasha M. made us feel comfortable and at ease. They handled all our special requests and were in direct contact with all our vendors to make sure our day would be as magical as imagined. Gabi B. from Brera Catering was also so pleasant to work with, and accommodating from our initial tasting months prior to the wedding to our midnight table.

Came here for my partner’s birthday and had a great experience. Only one staff member was on the floor, but he was incredibly attentive and friendly throughout the evening.

Although our food was delayed due to a kitchen mix-up, the staff handled it quickly and graciously. They went above and beyond to make up for the inconvenience, which we truly appreciated.

As for the food, it was delicious. I highly recommend the salmon (sorry don’t remember the exact name) - sauce was so tasty. The meat in the beef bourguignon was also good, but kind of dry..

Overall, it was a lovely night. I definitely recommend this place if you’re looking to treat yourself and your partner to a nice dinner!

I loved the ambiance. Staff was nice. Maison Selby is definitely a hidden gem in Toronto—quite literally, since the location is a bit tucked away and not the easiest to find. It’s off the beaten path, and unless you’re familiar with the area, you’ll likely need to grab an Uber. Parking seems limited, and it’s not particularly close to a subway station, so getting there can be a bit of a trek. That said, once you arrive, the experience is worth it.

The standout for me was the ambiance. The space is beautifully designed, intimate and lovely and has a really special energy that makes it feel like more than just another restaurant. It’s the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to linger a little longer over your meal.

The food was very good, thoughtfully prepared, and flavorful—clearly some care went into both the menu and presentation. While the service wasn’t flawless, it was fine enough and didn’t detract too much from the evening. The staff got the job done, though there’s definitely room for a bit more attentiveness.

Overall, Maison Selby is a spot I’d return to. The ambiance alone makes it memorable, and paired with good food, it’s an experience worth repeating despite the minor inconveniences of location and parking.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming vibe that set the tone for a great evening. The service stood out right away—especially our server, Liloo. She was kind, attentive, and really knew the menu. Her recommendations were thoughtful and helped us enjoy each dish even more. The chefs deserve credit too—the food looked beautiful and tasted just as good. The whole front-of-house team made us feel comfortable and taken care of the entire night.

Out of the drinks, the Pineapple Mule was the winner. It had a nice mix of ginger, soda, lime, and pineapple—refreshing and balanced. The Raspberry Pepper Mojito, though, didn’t have much flavour and was a bit of a letdown. The Aperol Spritz was light and dry, with a bitter finish. It’s more for people who like the taste of rosé wine and their cocktails on the less sweet side.

The appetizers were a strong start. The escargot was one of the best things we had—rich, buttery, and perfect with the baguette. The French onion soup was full of flavour, warm and comforting, though it could’ve used a bit more caramelized onion. The beef tartare was also a surprise hit—bold and unique, with the Dijon, quail egg, and pickled herring adding a lot of flavour.

For mains, the beef bourguignon was hearty and satisfying. The beef was tender, the mashed potatoes were creamy, and the veggies added a nice texture. A slightly more pronounced red wine taste would have made the stew perfect, but it was still excellent. The cod basquaise, on the other hand, was just okay. The fish was cooked well, but the broth didn’t have much flavour and didn’t quite match the quality of everything else. The broth definitely needed more time to absorb its flavour.

Dessert ended things on a quieter note. The crème brûlée was fine, but nothing special. The texture was okay, and the strawberries added a nice touch, but it felt more like a dessert from a casual spot rather than a fine dining place.

Overall, this was a great experience. The food, service, and atmosphere all came together to make the night special. Even with a few misses, it exceeded our expectations. We’re excited to come back.

• Beef tartare (off-menu): bold with layers of flavour. The pickled herring added just the right hit.

• Duck liver parfait (off-menu): very creamy, buttery, and smooth. It had me saying, “Yup, we’re definitely coming back.”

• Sweet green pea tartine: fresh but a bit too carb-heavy for me after the tartare and parfait. And the poached egg was slightly overcooked.

• Fennel salad: very light. The lemon vinaigrette and the anchovy added a nice kick and umami.

• Artichoke barigoule: rich, salty, creamy and tangy in all the right ways.

• Strip loin steak: cooked just right to medium rare. The French onion baked potato was yum!!

• Dessert was a little simple and not that special, imo.

Even with a couple of dishes that didn’t totally wow, the overall experience exceeded expectations so we’ll definitely be back.

Great place for a fancy meal. Be prepared to spend money, but know that the price is with it. Food is delicious and there is a good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The menu is simple but innovative. Choices are healthy and varied. Drop by for a meal or drinks. Really like the decor and keeping with the "Maison" motif.

My friend and I went to Mati this past Saturday for my birthday! This restaurant has been on my summer to do list and I’m so glad we visited.
The only thing I would change would be our seating, we were right next to the patio door and my friend was interrupted all night by staff and patrons walking past her chair as she shuffled to accommodate each passing.

The service was great and the food was beautifully presented, the taste of each dish and cocktail was unique and well crafted. We both will be returning soon - thank you Mati 😊

I was really impressed with my recent visit. It was the first visit for a friend and I, and we were both thrilled with our food. The cocktails were inspired and well executed, the food was delicious and beautifully presented, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the service was attentive and balanced. I was really impressed with the decor as well; I had initially thought based on the photos that it might have felt a bit cold with all the white tiles but balance of wood, brick and other patterns really blended together to create a beautiful space. Well done on all fronts. Definitely recommend.

Nice menu selection, good service, and a pleasant space with group seating options both inside and on the patio. The cocktail list is creative and appealing. Prices feel a bit high for the portion sizes.

Mati went above and beyond for my birthday dinner. They set up my group in a nice big table by the window and had a birthday card set up for me as we arrived. The food was great and the service was what really stood out. My friend ordered the Wagyu burger and it took a long time for it to arrive but the server offered him some bread while he waited. We had no complaints and didn’t mind the wait. At the end, they comped his burger on the bill to make up for the wait and I think that was a really great gesture!

We celebrated our wedding anniversary, and it was our first time at Mati. We were very happy with our choice, as every little detail made the evening special. The food was amazing, and they even placed a “Happy Anniversary” note on our table. The owners personally came over to wish us a happy anniversary, which made the experience even more memorable. Attentive service and an unforgettable evening!

Nick’s Steakhouse and Pizza is a Calgary classic! Cozy family-run spot since 1979, known for hearty steaks, juicy burgers, and their famous deep-dish pizza. Great portions, friendly service, and a warm atmosphere make it perfect for both casual dinners and special nights out.

Tried their fish, Alberta Cut! Amazing steak and cozy atmosphere. It’s a shame that we were too full to order their pizza. Heard many good things about their pizza. A must-visit if you’re in Calgary!

Neat place, friendly staff, tasty steak. I loved the calamari. Warren took wonderful care of us and was attentive and on point when it came to refilling our drinks and removing finished plates. We went there for a late lunch at 2pm on a weekday, and there was plenty of parking and no wait for a table.

Food was absolutely delicious. Loved the pairing of my steak with the cab sav red wine. My meal included tossed salad and garlic bread but I forgot to take a picture of that. The restaurant was packed and we were a group of 8. I enjoyed my medium rare sirloin steak meal. My steak was well seasoned and just delicious. My husband loved his baby back ribs meal. We all opted to sit outside in the patio since the weather was just great. All in all a great choice of a place.

I recently took my granddaughter to the Old Mill for a princess party teatime event. She absolutely loved it. The grounds were just exquisite. All the little girls were dressed up in princess dresses with tiara’s, and they had four princesses come out to entertain the kids. The room was set up beautifully, and the food was excellent.

Went here for a friend’s intimate wedding and loved the venue. The food was delicious, the venue itself felt very cozy and elegant, and the staff were all so helpful. I didn’t take pictures of the food, but we had butternut squash soup, garden salad, and salmon filet with roasted veggies — all of it was surprisingly delicious.

We recently had our wedding at Old Mill Toronto, and it was truly the most magical day we could have imagined. From the stunning historic setting to the flawless execution of every detail, everything exceeded our expectations.

A huge thank you to Anna and Galina, who were extremly helpful in making our day so special. Their responsiveness, professionalism, and attention to detail were incredible throughout the entire planning process. Anytime we had a question or needed to finalize something, they were quick to respond and always had a solution ready. Their support took so much stress off our shoulders and made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable.

The venue itself is breathtaking — charming, elegant, and full of character. Our guests couldn't stop complimenting the ambiance, the food, and the impeccable service. From start to finish, it was everything we dreamed of and more.

The Old Mill is such a beautiful venue with so many spaces for events that each have their own character and requires very little decoration. As a wedding decorator, the staff were incredibly friendly and responsive. They ensured everything was perfect for my client and made it very easy for me to complete my decor set-up. I'm looking forward to working at The Old Mill in the future.

The Resturant was highly recommend by a friend, so we went. We were forgotten by our waitress and we had to flag down the hostess to get a waitress, whom promptly came and offered us complimentary desert for the mishap which was greatly appreciated. We order the eggplant app and the Korean chicken wings, both which are amazing. For the mains, we got the lamb and the halibut. The lamb was awesome but the halibut had a very strong fishy smell and taste and was very salty. The complimentary desert was also fantastic. Yes, I would go back next time but would not order the halibut again,

From the moment we stepped inside, we felt welcomed by a cozy lounge area with plush seating that set the tone for a relaxed evening. After passing the stylish bar, we entered the main dining hall, where grand décor, soaring ceilings, and a mix of lush hanging plants and elegant chandeliers created a stunning atmosphere. The lighting was softly dimmed, adding a romantic touch that made the whole experience feel special. Service was attentive and thoughtful throughout, and both the food and drinks were genuinely outstanding. We had a wonderful time—definitely a place makes our trip in Calgary memorable.

We had an incredible experience at Orchard! The vibe and decor are absolutely stunning, such a warm and elegant atmosphere.

The service was top-notch from start to finish, and they even surprised us with complimentary champagne for our anniversary, which made the evening extra special. The drinks were excellent, and the food was just outstanding. The halibut was hands down the best dish of the night! Perfectly cooked and full of flavor.

Super underrated happy hour spot with fabulously crafted cocktails. Very fresh and perfectly balanced and some very unique combinations.

We had the Korean chicken wings and they were phenomenal, perfect crunch to sauce ratio. We also had the salmon from large plates as recommended by our server, Vern, and were blown away by the flavours of the dish.

The service was top notch, attentive, friendly, and all the recommendations were spot on what we were looking for.

We loved the decor and the vibe here in general. Great spot! Will be back.

I rented out the space for my daughter’s tea party bridal shower. The atmosphere was perfect, the table settings were beautiful and the food was fabulous. A very nice place inside the hotel. They have a good happy hour selection which lasts til 6 pm. The regular menu is only available starting at 5 pm. The place is very clean, and the servers are all extremely friendly and helpful. Excellent place for either just some drinks and snacks or a full course dinner. Highly recommend.

Too bad Google reviews can only go up to 5 stars because I would rate this restaurant 10 stars if I could. Our experience here went far beyond our expectations!!
The staff provided the best service despite a busy Saturday night. The host was very charming and sweet, her smile could light up the whole room. Our server was very attentive and made sure our table was always ready for each course.

We ordered lots of appetizers and entrees for our table to share and all I can say is everything was a hit! Every dish was bursting with flavour from different cuisines. The Brussels sprout Caesar was absolutely delicious, the sauce from the Hamachi Crudo really complemented the fish. And lastly, the duck breast was our absolute favourite. The duck was perfectly seasoned and cooked and the fried rice has a perfect amount of heat and is very flavourful. It definitely brought us all home. Totally recommend it.

Special shoutout to Chef Junell and Chef Angeli for preparing all these dishes for us. We can't wait to come back and taste his new creations!!

The kitchen staff prepared the most amazing dinner, our favorite of the placea we tried!! The modifications Chef Junell and team made so I could still enjoy a full menu were top notch and incredibly delicious! Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of us, we will be back!

We went for the YYC Experience Pop-up that has Yellow Door Bistro and Oxbow working together.

Firstly, the food and wine pairings were quite good. The hamachi crudo and agnolotti were the standout for me, and my fiancé loved the fennel sausage and pommes aligot.

The service and lack of organization is what brought this rating down so hard. Our server barely knew the type of wine pairing he was serving to us, despite us asking for details. Every course we were told if it was "bubbles, cider, or a mixed red." The wine pairings came out first and the last three courses took about 20 minutes each to reach our table after we'd already received the small glass of wine. We were hoping there might be a top up or something provided to acknowledge the lengthy wait times for the food that went with the pairing, but nothing was offered. The servers also did not explain all the components of each dish and we found ourselves looking it up on our phones between courses.

When we received the fennel sausage with the table side pommes aligot, we had to ask someone where the tableside offering of melted cheese was. While our food got cold, our waiter simply said "oh, they didn't come by with that yet?" and then went to find the guy with the cheese while we left our dish untouched waiting for its final topping. The heating mechanism was failing for the melted cheese experience, so the server was using a hand torch to get the smallest amount of cheese to put onto the potatoes. The mechanism failing was certainly no one's fault, but the kitchen should have pivoted and began melting cheese in the kitchen to provide fully melted cheese on this dish. We saw them serve a table with completely unmelted cheese nearby, scraping off hunks of solid cheese, and that was rough.

At the end of the meal, we had our dessert served to us by the sommelier who brought out the bottle of sweet wine to tell us about for our final dish and pairing. We expressed that we had wished she had been around for the other wine pairings because her attention to detail was great.

In the end, the food was really the star, but with so much disorganization and the servers being unable to explain the dishes or the wine pairings, this was a bit of a disappointment for the price of $320 for two people.

First time to try the PAI uptown and we loved it dishes are great similar to the downtown one. Staff very very friendly and we didn’t have to wait too long for the dishes. The interior is beautiful and has a nice aesthetic. There are many seats available and there is also a second floor where you’re able to book a private section or room as well. We ordered the Khao Soi and Pad Gra Prow super delicious we’ll definitely be back.

Fantastic food, vibe and service.

We came here with a party of 6 and everyone left happy. The food is fresh and delicious. I ordered mine at the “Thai spicy” level and it could have been hotter, however the flavours were on point.

The vibe of the restaurant is incredible and service super friendly.

If, like me, you enjoy Thai food, discovering good places, and supporting local businesses, then PAI is a great option for you to visit whenever you can.

PAI is located two blocks up from Eglinton Station, close to bus stops, private parking, and paid street parking.

The restaurant has two floors of dining and three seating areas. The dining areas are quite large, and the tables are spacious, allowing for a great meal. Both floors have a bar, so drinks are available in both areas.

Even though the building appears to be old, the restaurant isn't just stairs. For customers with disabilities who want to visit the restaurant, there's an elevator available. Unfortunately, the elevator doesn't go to the second area, but both areas are excellent. They also have accessible restrooms in both areas, and automatic doors open and close in both the restrooms and the restaurant entrance. Unfortunately, they don't have a Braille menu, but the staff is trained to assist with all orders.

For those traveling with children, the restrooms have changing tables, and the restaurant has high chairs and seats.

Unfortunately, the restaurant isn't pet-friendly because it doesn't have a patio.

Speaking of food, the menu is excellent, with many options for starters, main courses, appetizers, and desserts. The drinks are a real treat, and in addition to cocktails, they offer beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages.

The prices are good, especially considering the amount of food served.

Some days of the week, PAI has live music, so you can enjoy the atmosphere and listen to some good music. It's usually quite busy on weekends and Friday nights, so it's worth making a reservation.

It seems the two dishes I tried here were missing a couple of significant spices, ingredients and flavours in usual Thai dishes just to be "safe" and appealing to the western masses. E.g., my family and I found the beef salad very bland - it didn't have enough lime like the actual Nam Tok. The beef is grilled but stone cold when served, and it lacked all the grilled flavours but just like plastic sitting on the blood-soaked cabbage and lettuce. Koh soi had the same issue - the flavours were a lot more lacking compared to other northern Thai places like BKK on Yonge & Steeles, in which BKK's koh soi was not only sweet, but with punches from the lime, lots of pickled vegetables and layers of spices. Pai's koi soi was mostly just sweet, and as a result, it was very cloying by the end of it. Also the beef chunks were rather tough - they should've been braised to the point that they would melt in your mouth instantly. My family did not feel very good at the end of the meal.

Honestly, I don't think the food was THAT bad, but it was just mid at best. In addition, every dish here was about dollars pricier than other authentic Thai restaurants, but the quality and quantity were both lacking. I was not very happy about that.

Shout out to Brandon doe - great kuya server, and yes - the interior was great and beautiful. But I just had so much anticipation for this place and the food was SUCH a letdown. It’s a restaurant at the end and they really need to step up the game for the food.

Simply Exceptional 🙏🏽 the pad Thai here was unreal, great quality and attention to detail, loved every single bite. This place took it's time to cook my meal, which made me realize just how incredibly fresh it must be.

I came to this restaurant in the midtown location because I could never get inside the downtown location. Although I ordered take out from this specific location, the interior decore was so well designed and decorated!

One thing I recommend is adding more halal meat options as I know the beef inside the curry is halal, however it would be nice to have other halal meat!

Love this restaurant. The food is top notch and so is the service. The portions are so plentiful. If you are ever in the area, I totally recommend stopping by to try some of these incredible tasty dishes and the non alcoholic drinks.

5 stars – A Must Try Gem in Toronto!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Parallel in Toronto, and I genuinely can’t stop thinking about the experience. From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, attentive, and thoughtful. Yes, there was a slight delay with our food, but the staff handled it with such grace and professionalism going above and beyond to make it right that it only added to the overall positive impression.

Now let’s talk about the food: absolutely phenomenal. The salad was fresh, vibrant, and perfectly dressed simple yet full of flavor. But the real showstopper was the mushroom pita with arugula. Earthy, savory, and balanced, it was one of the best things I’ve eaten in a long time. Every bite felt thoughtfully composed.

Honestly, with this level of food and service, it’s shocking that Parallel doesn’t have a Michelin star. It hits all the marks: creative dishes, locally inspired flavors, and a team that clearly cares deeply about the guest experience.

Toronto is lucky to have this place. I’ll be back and bringing friends

The food here is consistently very good. I've been several times now over the last few years. The menu does seem to change occasionally which is nice.

The falafels are nice and crunchy, with a nice seasoning on the inside. The bread and hummus are great.

The mains (don't have pictures of every time I've gone) have always been very tasty. I have not been disappointed yet. Definitely enjoyed the Arais, and the Parallel salad.

They also have some takeout options available, as well as packages goods like spices, halva, crackers and more.

Definitely will continue to return. The place is a bit loud, but it is busy and has a nice patio. The decor is very nice. The staff are generally friendly.

We have recently moved to the neighborhood and found this place walking by.
We were amazingly surprise with the variety of healthy food. Absolutely loved the place and the atmosphere. The food was delicious.
They also had a special list which included a “Coconut Mango Pavovla” - simply the best desert EVER!!!! Not joking. We loved it.
FYI, Beers come in cans. Nice variety as well. Wanna try the mixed drinks next time.
