I ordered a dress online that was a final sale and at a very good price. I hadn’t really tried on the dress or examined it for that reason, however now that my event is nearing, the dress that was posted on the website and that I purchased is NOT the same dress that I was given. The neckline is different and so is the length. I ordered a midi dress with boat neckline and the one I received is round neck and knee length. The dress is beautiful but definitely NOT the same dress that was pictured. See photos. DO NOT BUY ITEMS ONLINE ON FINAL SALE. I had a fantastic experience at this store! The staff is incredibly lovely and helpful, making you feel valued as a client. I was in a pinch, searching for an evening gown for a last-minute event, and April went above and beyond to assist me. Her warmth and expertise made the process enjoyable. I always wanted to have a name tag for myself but I never really looked into it. I found this place on Google Maps and I called them. The person on the other line answered and told me to come in! I went to see them and I had an engraving for my name tag done in a couple minutes!

We stayed there from September 21 to 24 and we really enjoyed it. The service by all employees was 5 star. They went out of their way to ensure we got everything we needed. The rooms themselves are smaller than the Hilton Garden Inn that we are used to but we made do. The coffee, breakfast and service were great, Thanks very much.

We stayed three nights and were disappointed that there was no housekeeping or room refresh during our stay. The rooms are quite small, but the staff were friendly and the location is convenient(next to a metro station). Overall, the lack of basic service made the experience less enjoyable than expected.”

We were looking for an affordable hotel for our family of 4 in downtown Montreal. This was a great option. Rooms were great. The lobby was clean and spacious. Games room was fun and free breakfast option was nice to have. The central location was good, but the parking garages available were a bit far. The neighbourhood was questionable and walking to and from the parking garage with our kids and all our luggage didn't feel safe.

I stayed one night at Tru by Hilton. The facilities are comfortable — especially the bed, which was great for a good night’s sleep. Breakfast was enjoyable too, with a fun automatic pancake machine that made tasty pancakes.

HOWEVER, since the hotel is newly opened, there is still a noticeable “new furniture” smell indoors. I would caution anyone sensitive to smells or with respiratory conditions.

On the positive side, the staff were very supportive.

Overall, I’d recommend it, with just the note about the new-furniture smell for those who might be affected.

Extremely happy with our stay at Tru over Labor Day weekend! Due to room availability, I initially had to book our 4 night stay under 2 reservations. However, upon check in and speaking with the front desk, they were able to accommodate us in the same room for 4 nights and we did not have to check out and back in again. I was initially nervous about only being on the 3rd floor and hearing all the street noise, but we were on the back end of the hotel and there was very good sound insulation from outside and between rooms. Our room was also freshened daily with the bed made and clean towels.
The location is fantastic too. It’s right across the street from a metro hub, and right by the Latin Quarter. The area was clean and felt safe, and there were plenty of places within walking that were open late when we didn’t want to venture too far from the hotel.
The building is only 3 months old and has that “new hotel” smell. It didn’t bother me, but slightly bothered my boyfriend who has a more sensitive nose than I do. But I would rather have new hotel smell than old hotel mold and mildew smell haha.
Overall, very happy with our stay and l wouldn’t hesitate booking this hotel again.

This hair salon is amazing, the interior is really nice and the staff are so friendly. Lena Letizia is an artist, I have never had such an enjoyable experience during a haircut, and I felt so cared for from start to finish. She is very skilled and I enjoyed having a quiet appointment where I could just relax. I'm very happy with the results and would definitely return here.

Today was my first time going to Two Horses after a few months of wanting to try out this place. I am very satisfied with my haircut and styling. My stylist was Léandre, and he was just wonderful. He listened to everything I said and took his time while working delicately and was very kind. I am used to hairstylists who rush their appointments without giving me the layers I ask for, but Léandre was very attentive and did everything I asked. The rest of the staff seemed very kind as well and the atmosphere was quite welcoming.

Update:
After posting this review, the salon owner reached out and offered a partial refund, which I appreciated. It doesn’t undo the discomfort I experienced during the appointment, but I’m glad they took some responsibility and made an effort to make things right. I’ve also since heard from other people—especially queer folks—who’ve had positive experiences here, so I’m open to the possibility that this was a one-off.

Original Review:
My experience at this salon was thoroughly disappointing from start to finish. What began as a pricing bait-and-switch—quoted $100 over the phone, then told $150 upon arrival for a trim (a 50% increase)—devolved into an uncomfortable situation where I felt treated like nothing more than a wallet.

When I explained the unexpected price increase was beyond my budget, the stylist was not only visibly upset but also tried to charge me without providing any service, claiming their cancellation policy would apply. This happened despite my offer to pay for a hair treatment instead, which would have fit within my original budget and the time we had. We eventually reluctantly agreed on a $100 dry cut with no wash or styling. She only informed me after already beginning to cut that the result "might not be even" due to cutting it dry. The end result? My hair is now frizzier, shorter than I hoped, and as you can see in the picture, uneven. I'm also short of $136 (I tipped out of courtesy).

Most alarming was the aggressive upselling of a "Samy treatment" that the stylist boasted she was the only one offering in Canada. My subsequent research revealed truly concerning information: the treatment's main ingredient, glyoxylic acid, poses serious health risks through skin absorption and has been linked to acute kidney injury and calcium oxalate nephropathy in medical literature, with some cases requiring dialysis. These significant health risks were never mentioned during the hard sell. She recommended this $300+ treatment be done at least twice to repair the damage in my hair and proudly mentioned having clients who receive it every two months.

As a queer salon, I expected inclusivity and consideration for a first-time client's budget, not to be made to feel like an inconvenience for not spending more. However, I'm most worried about them putting the health of their clients at risk. I can only assume their other stylists might be talented and more considerate, but I couldn't enjoy a single minute of this experience and left feeling disrespected and misled.

A higher price point than others? Yes. But worth every dollar.
I came in with damaged, uneven, thick, frizzy hair and Yuka made sure I left with breezy, soft, and silky hair. She was lovely and I must say that she handles my hair very gently.
I also really appreciate that she gave me advice for styling my hair/caring for it. I usually have to ask stylists and I still don’t have a clear idea. Yuka is very knowledgeable on East Asian hair (like mine) and showed me how to make my hair look pretty.

There are moments you can shell out some money for a proper good haircut. Today was that day for me.
$95 for the shampoo + cut and $35 for a repair treatment. Not bad at all! Recommend!

I’ve been going to Kat for years at this point and would definitely recommend the crew at this salon to anyone! As far as Kat goes, they are very attentive, patient, and great at communicating to make sure you’re both on the same page with the cut. I also have wavy/curly ish hair and Kat knew how to style and dry it without messing up the texture.

A great team and dynamic and inspiring women.

Union Lighting: A Class Above the Rest in Montreal

Union Lighting is one of the nicest lighting stores I’ve visited in Montreal, and it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re in the market for high-quality fixtures. Located on the Decarie service road near Royalmount Mall, the store is easy to access with available parking, which is a big plus in this area.

The selection at Union Lighting is truly impressive. They offer elegant, classy fixtures that stand out from the more generic or tacky options you might find at other stores. Whether you’re looking for modern, traditional, or transitional styles, their curated collection has something for everyone. What’s even more notable is that they seem to be ahead of the curve—fixtures we saw here only appeared in other stores months later, often as cheaper imitations. If you want trendsetting designs, this is the place to go.

That said, the prices are on the higher end, though they are comparable to what you’d find at high-end retailers like Mayfair, especially during sales. While the quality justifies the cost, it’s something to keep in mind if you’re on a tighter budget.

The service was mostly good, but there were a few hiccups. We experienced some delays, which we were told was because they source their stock directly from manufacturers. While this ensures authenticity and quality, it can be a bit frustrating if you’re in a hurry. Additionally, there was a minor mix-up with one of the items we were interested in. However, our representative, Sabrina, and the manager, Roy, were very helpful and worked hard to find a solution that worked for us. Their professionalism and kindness definitely saved the experience.

Overall, Union Lighting is a great store with a lot to offer, but there’s room for improvement in terms of service efficiency. I’d give them a solid **4/5 stars**. If you’re looking for high-quality, trendsetting lighting and don’t mind the higher price point, it’s definitely worth a visit. Just be prepared for potential delays and double-check details to avoid any mix-ups.

I have purchased fixtures in the past from Union lighting and have been very happy.

Most recently I used their online consultation for the mudroom as I was uncertain what size fixture would be suitable. Cindy was excellent! Her communication was wonderful. Her suggestions of fixtures showed she cared about doing the best for this small job. Cindy asked questions about style and budget. I’m excited to receive my new lights!

I had a wonderful customer service experience with Thomas who greatly assisted me with a replacement and a refund for a few products I ordered.

It was so refreshing interacting with Thomas! He acted promptly, professionally, was kind and processed everything so quickly. He also kept me updated on the replacement without having to follow up. If only everyone was like Thomas!

We stayed in the plateau and our apartment was excellent! The terraces (yes, multiple!) made for great evenings to enjoy the city views and relax. The host and team were hands down the best I have ever seen in all of my rentals. We will stay again!

I highly recommend Unique Stays' Pop Sanctuary on Saint Denis. It is so close to Sherbrooke station and very close to wonderful Mamie Clafoutis which had amazing fresh bread, baguettes, croissants and coffee.
Communication and check-in was a breeze. I really appreciate the constant communication to make sure my stay was going well.
The unit is on the top floor with a lot of stairs, so I wouldn’t recommend if stairs are an issue.
It is beautifully decorated and looks just like the listing. A very cool and funky vibe!! And sooo clean! I enjoyed the record player playing the Beatles Abbey Road as I enjoyed my coffee in the morning. I appreciated the tea and coffee provided.
I felt safe as a single female with the key pad locks for two of the entry doors and a key lock for my unit.
I would definitely stay here again and recommend this to all my family and friends. Thanks again for my wonderful stay.

Great location central to touristy stuff and not so touristy stuff. Place was well accommodated and staff was responsive. Apartment was clean and AC was potent. Rooftop deck was nice when it wasn’t so hot and thankful for the free laundry service especially with it being so hot! Would recommend and would stay again

This was a great apartment for my visit to my daughter at McGill. Beautifully decorated, nice kitchen, comfy bed, lots of light and great location - easy walk to McGill and close to shops, restaurants and cafes of the Plateau. I didn’t go down to old Montreal this trip but it would just be 30 min walk. Hosts were very responsive, gave incredibly clear directions to access unit and I felt very safe and secure. I will definitely stay here again!

I had such a nice stay at Unique Stays in Montreal! The location was perfect, in the Plateau area and within walking distance to many nice restaurants, a natural grocery store about 10 mins, and about 20-30 mins to old Montreal.
The space was very clean and came stocked with everything needed to cook, and enjoy a beverage on the patio - including ICE!!
The beds were extra comfortable, and the overall decor was very inviting. It felt just like home!
I can’t wait to come visit again!

A Truly Enjoyable Stay at Unique Stays – Would Return in a Heartbeat

I spent several nights at Unique Stays in Montreal and was very impressed. The space was bright, clean, and tastefully furnished with a modern yet comfortable touch. The bed was especially cozy — perfect for unwinding after a day exploring the city.

One of the standout features for me was the kitchen. It was surprisingly well stocked, not just with the basics but with everything needed to prepare full meals — a rarity in short-term rentals. The terrace was another highlight — ideal for a quiet morning coffee or chatting with fellow travellers while taking in the city atmosphere.

The location couldn’t have been more convenient. Nestled in the heart of the action, it’s surrounded by great restaurants, vintage shops, and is within walking distance to several key points of interest. It made getting around incredibly easy and enjoyable.

Management was also a strong point — fast, helpful, and professional. Any small questions I had were answered almost immediately, which made the experience smooth from start to finish.

I would absolutely visit again in a heartbeat. Unique Stays lived up to its name — a unique, thoughtful, and easy place to call home in Montreal.

The studio was great! It was super clean and it looked exactly like the pictures! It also had everything needed in the bathroom & kitchen, and all appliances and A/C worked perfectly. This suite is in a great location, very close to the subway station and right on Saint Denis street where there are tons of restaurants, bars and stores to explore! It is also close to Old Montreal and the port! Overall, it was a great place, 10/10! Definitely recommend and would stay here again!

I enjoyed my stay in the mini studio. The kitchen and bathroom are truly mini, but very well-equipped. The bedroom space is wide enough though. I also got a lot of help from the hosts; they were super responsive and accommodating. The location is also great; everything | needed i.e.
supermarkets, metro/buses, park, restaurants, was within a walking distance. Overall, my stay was definitely worth it.

When the power went out on the hottest day of the year at our wedding venue at 2pm, we were immediately in problem-solving mode, hours away from what could have been a total disaster. But you stepped in prepared and cool headed, made the ceremony happen perfectly, MC’d, and kept the party going with your backup setup, and somehow made it feel like nothing had gone wrong. Despite the heat of the hottest day of the year, it felt like the energy never dipped, the music never stopped, and people kept dancing like it was all part of the plan. If anything, the power outage created a more intimate, romantic setting, that everyone really told us they enjoyed.

Had you not MC’d and spoken to the crowd the way you did, things would’ve turned out boring. Had you not had your battery backups, it would’ve turned out a very quiet and uneventful party. You took on the the role of coordinator, DJ, electrical guru, lighting champion, and MC.

Beyond that, your coordination in the lead-up and on the day itself was honestly amazing. Every single vendor we’ve spoken to before and during the wedding has brought up how great you were to work with, and how good of a human being you are. From the emails you sent to keep everyone aligned, to your ability to run the show without making it feel forced, to your quick thinking and calm presence when things went sideways, it was clear you had everything under control. Even your music selection was spot-on from start to finish, with perfect transitions and crowd pleasers that kept everyone on the dance floor.

We count ourselves some of the luckiest people ever for stumbling across Valeria while we were looking for wedding photographers. For starters, we would hire her again for any event and would highly recommend her to everyone.
After first contacting her she suggested that we do an engagement shoot to see if we liked her and the style of photos as a trial before the wedding. It was a great idea! We got to see the way she worked and see the beautiful photos that she was able to produce.
We then decided to postpose the 2020 wedding (for obvious reasons) and when we contacted her to see if that would be a problem, she had no hesitation to reschedule us for the following year. Then we did the same thing from 2021-2022... Again not a problem, we were so grateful for the ease of communication and can't thank her enough for this.
After asking her to postpose the first time, we last minute decided to have a very small wedding and get married despite the chaos that was just starting. At this point there were very few if no rules around covid. We asked Valeria if she would come shoot our little wedding. She was so excited and it was such a pleasure to have her! She let us know when she left to come out and even asked if we needed anything at all before she arrived.
Then, in 2022, we were finally able to celebrate our marriage with all our friends and family, with Valeria and her assistant there to capture all the memories.
Again we were/are very happy with her and her photos of our wedding and can't wait to find an excuse to hire her again!

Beautiful store with nice dresses would have giving it a 4-5 star review if it wasn’t for my recent experience.

I went on Saturday to try on a dress and comments such as ; if I ate a pig before coming or I partied too much were said, and not only once but multiple times. I don’t remember the employee’s name only that she had tattoos (not judging I myself and my friends who were present had visible tattoos). Having previously worked in a high end dress boutique, these are not comments that should ever be said to a person no matter the reason and language barrier is definitely not an excuse. Going in for a dress fitting is a stressful experience and this cemented my reason of ordering online to avoid being in this position.

Of course during the call received from the owner after the visit with many apologies and slight guilt trip, I had told her it was okay and that I wouldn’t be continuing my purchase with their boutique. Being told that that’s their employee’s humour was simply baffling as I don’t even speak to my close friends like that.

Despite never being requested for a deposit for the dress when ordering over the phone being told by a third party that I would have to pay for a dress even though it didn’t fit. For someone who works in customer service it is inexcusable.

A response isn’t necessary because I don’t want a copy pasted generic reply with false apologies. Did is just a warning for future potential clients, if you’re not in their close circle you may have a similar experience.

*Having your friends writing reviews to boost up the rating and attacking others is not how a business owner should proceed knowing that your employee was at fault. The way the situation is being handled in the rating is unbelievable.

I bought my dress 3 months before my wedding, I went around to multiple stores but did not find anything like I found at Vania.

I’ve been a faithful customer for over 20 years & I’ve never heard such a discriminatory remark about a salesperson such as Shanti’s remark referring to the salesperson with Alice in Wonderland tattoos. Never judge a book by its cover. Erica is wonderful tactful individual who takes pride in her job, unlike you who discriminates just by the look of a person & exaggerated to make yourself look good. No way I will never believe what you wrote. I can vow to the best service & special attention the staff & owner gives their customers for any occasion. I advise anger management courses for you. Sorry is not extreme enough a word for your type. Anyone reading Shanti’s review, be your own judge & visit Vania Spose, you won’t regret. Beautiful store, beautiful people. Our bar bike experience was a total disappointment. The only positive was our driver Jillian, who was great, but everything else fell flat.

Right from the start, we had to push the bike out of the parking spot and onto the street ourselves. As paying customers, that should never have been our job. Why was the bike not parked in a spot for us to just hop on and start? We were also told there’s an electric assist on certain bikes, but it “sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t.” Ours had zero electric assist.

We were a group of 6, even though the company’s own website clearly states a minimum of 8 is required. After our initial inquiry, we’re not sure why our booking was even accepted in the first place. With only 6 people, the bike barely moved. We struggled the entire time and felt unsafe crawling along the road. Because of that, we cut the tour short and only made it to one stop instead of two. We couldn’t even enjoy it because our group of girls could barely propel the bike

We even tried to reach out to the company afterward to resolve this privately, but never got a response.

For over $500 USD, this was absolutely not worth it. Save your money and skip this experience — it’s unsafe, poorly managed, and not what’s advertised.

If you're looking for a great way to spend a few hours in Montreal, this it! Our guide Misha was awesome, she had great energy and we never felt rushed at any of the stops.

We stumbled on this place accidentally like Alice in the Wonderland. We went through an inconspicuous door from our hotel, that looked like any other back office door and emerged in a totally new fantastical world. There is nothing velvet or speakeasy about this place. It's a popular club. It's an elaborately decorated cavern that is moody and edgy and so cool. The beautiful stonework is a nod to the restaurant's storied history dating back to the 1700s. The huge restaurant space is striking and not the small back room of a hotel that I was expecting. Club Velvet is actually part of the Auberge St. Gabriel restaurant and reservations are required to get in. Our hotel did not tell us that. But the accommodating staff was nice enough to get us in even if we didn't have reservations. The music was good and the sound system was top notch. The drinks were good.

Temporarily closed until October for renovation. Stopped by on 17th of July and the manager told us the Speakeasy was closed until mid October. Very sad, we were looking forward to a fun classy evening.

cool atmosphere and really interesting ambiance. when you walk in it looks like a fancy steakhouse but the club downstairs is an awesome spot for dancing and drinks. Djs were great!

We were very pleased with our experience at Le Space. The venue was very clean and spacious. The decor was breathtaking and the staff were very kind. My daughter’s birthday was definitely a day to remember thanks to Laura for her attention to all details.

A Disappointing Experience for the Bride-to-Be

We recently held my bridal shower at L’Espace, and while the venue was beautifully decorated, the overall experience left much to be desired.

The food was disappointing, and partway through the event, the serving trays were taken away, leaving us to serve our guests from aluminum trays, which was both inconvenient and embarrassing. The air conditioning also wasn’t working properly, making it uncomfortable for everyone, especially our older guests, some of whom had to leave early because of the heat.

What truly saddened me was seeing my mom stressed out during what should have been a joyous occasion. The venue owner was sending her messages during the event about additional fees and payments, which added unnecessary stress to what should have been a happy day.

Overall, it was a disappointing experience that overshadowed what should have been a special celebration.

Our experience at L’Espace for my fiancée’s bridal shower was beyond disappointing. While the venue looked nice, the food was absolutely atrocious. To make matters worse, two hours into the event, someone literally came and took away the serving trays because they were only rented for a limited time, leaving us to serve our guests out of aluminum trays. That level of unprofessionalism is just unacceptable. The air conditioning was also non-functional, and we were told it was out of the owner’s control. We had elderly guests who were so uncomfortable that they had to leave early. On top of everything, the owner harassed my mother-in-law during the event, demanding extra payment and to make sure she pays her before we leave! all while a severe thunderstorm and floods made it difficult for guests to even get around the city to leave or get picked up. Many more upsetting things happened during this event like promises that were unkept. Chilling the wine and drinks is one of them. This should have been a happy day for everyone and unfortunately the owner stripped that from us because of her lack of respect and professionalism. This venue is a nightmare, and the owner clearly has no idea how to run a business. Avoid this place at all costs.

Only one hour into guests eating, this guy shows up to pick up his bowls buffet was served in and this girl was putting food in aluminum containers because apparently serving platter were reserved for two hours!!! But who does this in middle of meal! I waited for my guests to serve themselves and when I got there she was placing food in aluminum trays! Drinks were not chilled
She had ice as she said from previous party was block ice my guests had to go smash the ice so we can use it… sorry huge disappointment recommendation choose restaurant of your choice and pay for decor theme you are way way better off.

Had our kid’s birthday here and it was great. The place is super kid-friendly, clean, and the staff were chill and helpful. Made the whole thing really easy. Would definitely do it again.

Got this gorgeous bouquet for only 30 dollars ( I added some tulips that I already had), Very kind and helpful people and always has the best quality and price for flowers.

Went there to order wreaths for my grandma’s funeral and the gentleman there was quite helpful and accommodating.
I was worried that the wreaths would not come out as nice as expected but they were beautiful!
Service was great and pricing was fair…actually a lot more affordable than some other places I’ve checked out.

Woke up early this morning planing to take some sunrise photos around Montreal but the weather wasn't cooperating. Drove past this quaint little florist and stopped to buy a couple of roses for my sleeping wife and because I saw the owner outside cleaning the shop's awnings. Even though the store wasn't officially open for another hour, the owner said I could go inside and purchase something. Thanks, (Johnny?), for being so nice and accommodating. My wife enjoyed the surprise very much, too.

Venus flowers did all of the flower arrangements for my wedding and I can’t say enough how beautiful they turned out! Really smooth process from beginning to end. Thanks again John and Peggy!!
