A fascinating place with fascinating people. I've never been to a place so incredibly welcoming. And I love what they do for the community.

Every time I go I find a perfect little treasure! Highly recommend you stop in if you enjoy antiques and vintage. Always great energy in there and love their message. Will always stop in when I am in town to support.

I appreciate the ways Highjinx has supported our community, but they really missed the mark recently. An Indigenous family tried to buy back their grandfather’s carving, and instead of honouring that, Highjinx misled them, acting like they’d sell it back, then started a bidding war with someone else. They ignored the family’s attempts to follow up, never told them about the sale, and even blocked them when they tried to hold them accountable.

Highjinx, I’m urging you to make this right. If you truly care about community and doing the right thing, the least you can do is issue a public apology.

I don’t typically book hotels (I usually use Airbnb), so I’ll admit there were some misunderstandings on my end about the booking process. However, the way this hotel presents its confirmations is misleading. After I “booked,” all the emails I received showed the reservation as confirmed with full booking details. Nowhere in the wording or fine print did it state that this was only a pre-booking and that further confirmation or in-person payment would be required.

I can accept that I was unfamiliar with the hotel booking process, but what I cannot accept was the treatment I received from the night manager, Rujeeta. Her demeanor was cold, curt, and dismissive while I was simply trying to resolve the matter. I understand managers need to follow protocol, but it doesn’t cost anything to show empathy and respect while doing so.

In addition, the room itself was below standard in terms of cleanliness and upkeep, which only added to the disappointment.

Thankfully, the other front desk staff were professional and kind, but this experience left me with a very negative impression overall. I’ll be sharing screenshots so future guests are aware of how misleading the confirmation process can be.

This is a great property in a great location that has an emphasis on customer service in all areas: check-in, housekeeping and dining. Rarely are we so pleasantly surprised by service delivery but everyone here seems to want to make the guest experience special. In addition, the room in which we stayed was well designed per spaces (shelves, drawers, a closet, etc.) to put all personal items and it came with a nice view. It's convenient to everything especially if you enjoy walking!

The hotel is actually semi ok and decently priced but I had to complain about a non functioning bathroom ventilation.
Hotels get upset about complaints online without the option to fix during stay.
The first staff however denied the problem was real and said it's normal by design.
I had to explain her and a second staff it's not normal that a piece of paper would fall down cause of absolutely NO suction.
The second staff promised to look into it but nothing was fixed and after shower the bathroom was a steam bath.
Staff should have admitted lack of ventilation and offered to fix, offer another room, or at least acknowledge the problem and given some sort of compensation even a small one like drinks voucher would have gone a long way to show professionalism.

I thought the location was perfect for those who enjoy sight-seeing. Right by the parliament buildings, the river, Walk paths, and museums. Lots to discover for the kids too.

Really amazing architecture out here as well.

This location is maybe 5-7 min walk from the livlier part of the core, but very calm and quaint.

Would stay here again for sure.

Parking can be added to your room for 25.00, the front desk staff will give you a special key. It's underground and felt pretty safe.

There is a salt water pool as well on the 2nd floor. They provide towels, but the only thing that's missing is a change room. But honestly it wasn't too bad walking back to the room.

The workout area was in great, all the equipment was in amazing shape. They even have 2 Pelatons,

Be VERY careful if you decide to stay at this hotel and make sure to check your credit card statements!

I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Ottawa Downtown a few weeks ago during Bluesfest. The location was perfect as it was just a short walk to the downtown area and an even shorter walk to LeBreton flats.

The hotel itself was clean and nice enough. Our room was nice, except for a few things. The bathroom wasn’t ideal because the toilet paper holder was broken and there was no fan (which seems to be pretty standard in hotels), so it got very humid after taking a shower and you could hear everything from outside the bathroom… so not great privacy-wise. The beds were also very uncomfortable and the pillows were some of the worst I’ve experienced in a hotel before, so we didn’t sleep the best during our stay.

Regardless, our stay was fine. My issue was with what happened AFTER we checked out.

A few days after getting home from our trip, I noticed a charge for $118.48 from the Hilton Garden Inn Ottawa Downtown on my card that was separate from the charge for our stay. I had no idea what this charge was for, so I immediately called the front desk. They said it was for a dinner in the restaurant. First, we never even ate at the hotel, not even breakfast because that’s not included in your stay. Second, this "dinner" was purchased several hours AFTER we checked out from the hotel. After being told that they would have to "investigate" before approving any sort of refund and they would contact me the next morning, I heard nothing. I called back the next day and was basically given the runaround, told it was the food department’s job, and when I was transferred to them over the phone, they just hung up on me. After calling back again, I was finally able to speak to a manager, who basically told me to wait and see what happened. After some more begging for them to figure this out, the manager agreed to investigate the situation for me that afternoon and call me back with an update. Long story short here, it felt like I had to go a bit "Karen" mode on the phone to get anyone to care about this mystery charge to my account.

Finally, the manager called back and said that they figured out what the charge was. Hotel staff had charged someone else’s meal (again, a meal that was ordered AFTER we checked out and were already checked into another hotel) to my card because they had "the same first name as the name on our booking." Not the same full name, not someone who gave the same room number as the room that we had just stayed in…. just the same FIRST NAME! When I asked how this was able to happen, I was basically just told "it’s fine." Instead of an actual apology for their mistake, the manager just said "well this happens, I’ve had movies that I didn’t watch charged to my room before, so it’s fine."

I was able to get the money refunded after this, and I also was able to advocate enough for how unsafe this unauthorized use of my credit card made me feel that the manager agreed to refund our parking fee, which I am grateful for. The big issue for me here is that although I was able to get my money back, it took me several phone calls and insisting that someone look into the issue. Plus, what if I had just never noticed the charge in the first place?

Moral of the story, I would be very cautious if you decide to stay here.

The views are pretty fantastic.And the hotel is beautiful. We stayed in a suite and it was so amazing to habe a comfy living room and separate bedroom. I think the tv in the bedroom is a bit large but if you're looking to spend a weekend in bed, it could be nice to have the bigger screen.

My husband and I stayed at the Hilton Lac-Leamy. We had a gorgeous lakeside executive room that was spacious and very comfortable. I particularly loved the vanity table and make up mirror area, which meant that my husband could hog the bathroom. The executive lounge was lovely and the staff made me feel like it was truly a "home away from home". I wish I remember their names, but Marie Claude and Valerie both stand out.

We drove our electric car. For those of us not from Quebec, note that the electric chargers are only Level 2s and they work better with the Quebec Electric Circuit app, although apparently the Flo app should work too. It was hit or miss in terms of getting charged, even though the Hotel had 6 chargers. Please note that they only charged us $2.50 for an overnight charge, so no real complaints - but it would have been nice to have had a Level 3 charger on site, even if it cost more.

The continental breakfast and the light supper were both excellent. One warning - the traffic lights as you exit the Hotel area are very faint during the day -- so be careful at the first major intersection. Not the hotel's fault - but just a friendly observation.

Overall, I think this is a beautiful hotel, with gorgeous views. It was a pretty 50/50 experience when it came to service, however.
I wouldn’t say the hotel is “dated” it’s just an older hotel, but we did really love the room. The view over the lake was stunning, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom spacious. Everything was clean. My only complaint about the room was that the air conditioning didn’t seem to work very well, but we chalked that up to being on an upper level during a very hot weekend.
Upon arrival we pulled up out front and there wasn’t an employee in sight, despite there being a “valet” stand. I exited the vehicle and stood there waiting while my partner entered, checked in, and got the keys. By the time he came back out 5 minutes later, two staff also exited the building. They saw us standing there with our bags in front of the car they still didn’t approach us. It felt really awkward to ask them, where to park, and I just didn’t feel very welcomed.
Room service was great, the staff who delivered both times we ordered were really lovely people. Getting to enjoy our breakfast with that view was spectacular. Eggs Benedict was delightful (2 orders of eggs Benedict, apple juice, milk & coffee was $79 for room service), I really liked the pizza too (pizza is a bit subjective, but I personally enjoy the thick crust and lots of cheese)
Staff were very quick to respond to our request for extra towels, which was lovely.
I’ll say the last sort of issue we had left a sour taste in our mouths. I’ve been to plenty of hotels where, if you have a late flight/transport, will let you remain by the pool to wait it out. After we had checked out we went to the pool entrance, and asked the staff if she could buzz us in. She tells us she would call the front desk. We stood there awkwardly while she had this conversation on the phone, then HANDED US THE PHONE to talk to the desk. Uhhh??? We paid so much for this hotel and we were so busy we didn’t have a chance to sit by the pool until the day we checked out. I was just shocked the staff member couldn’t relay us the message? Like hello? Anyways, the message was sorry but you can only use it if you buy a pool pass. BUY. A POOL PASS. When we already spent this much money? Found it very unprofessional how that was relayed, and the lack of care for guests. We just wanted to sit there for an hour before we had to go. We’ve spent enough money.
So overall, I think it’s a great hotel; but as others have mentioned, staff could use some additional training about customer service and professionalism.

We had an amazing time here. The location is wonderful with a great relaxing room view. The servive was top notch and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The fitness centre and pools are also one of the best in town! We had buffet breakfast at Arôme and were not disappointed. Definitely recommend to anyone!

Club lounge is really not worth it. NO alcoholic drinks are complimentary at any time. I've never known another Club lounge to be like that.

Nice central location, decent gym, but small locker rooms and very limited parking

The outside grounds are filthy. The desk staff are so poorly trained and service takes forever. Waited at the desk to enquire about programs while some staff member continued to sit their and stuff their face. The facilty staff are not well trained and it sure seems when needing to deal the public, staff seemed bothered. One guy I talked to there went on a rant about how bad the management treat the staff there, etc. Should clean up the garbage out front.

Clean rooms and location. Everything from the parking garage to the hallways were spotless. The room we had was spacious and super clean. Seems HIE has a great theme no matter where in the world. I’ve stayed in Bangkok to Ottawa and the rooms are always clean and they have the best pillows! Check in was seconds and staff were very professional and friendly. Breakfast was standard for a hotel buffet. Great stay and will continue to stay with this chain

I recently returned from a 2 night stay....
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, included breakfast and decent gym.
Cons: Perhaps the biggest con was the location. It was definitely in a rough part of town. I could view skid row literally from my room window. There were no shops or restaurants within walking distance. Thank goodness for Uber Eats!. If you are coming as a tourist with children, which I was, I wouldn't recommend mostly due to the location. If you are coming for business, or just plan to spend a night or 2 in your room, it's perfectly acceptable. The other con was the pool... My Son was looking forward to it. However, as soon as we walked into the pool area our eyes started to burn from the chlorine. I get it, that it has to be chlorinated due to many people swimming in it, but it was overwhelming. Also, the water was murky and it was very small. However, we did swim in it, and actually didn't feel well the next day.

Be aware that this place is located in an area surrounded by drug addicts and homeless people. The hotel itself is decent, and the breakfast is good. The service is okay. The staff, (none of whom seem to be Canadian), were okay as well. Try not to use the swimming pool, it’s not very clean and has algae.

You have to pay for the parking lot, 18 CAD + tax a day, and that’s only if you manage to get a spot. If not, you’ll have to park somewhere else and hope no one breaks into your car. The parking lot is covered with so much dust that it looks as if a volcano just erupted there.

I personally think this hotel is overpriced and overrated.
I don’t recommend it.

We recently booked a room at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Downtown Ottawa for a guest who stayed for two nights, and overall, we had a great experience. The location is convenient, the room was clean and comfortable, and the check-in process was smooth and professional.

Our guest especially appreciated the amenities and the friendly service from the hotel staff. The complimentary breakfast was a nice bonus, though it would have been even better if the breakfast hours were extended slightly to better accommodate different schedules.

Aside from that small detail, everything went well and we would gladly recommend this hotel to others looking for a reliable and welcoming stay in downtown Ottawa.

I like how clean this hotel looks inside. I check almost every bit of this building except the staff area. 😁 The rooms and shower are clean, TV is working, lights, and power supply for your devices are easily accessible. Free breakfast is as usual, western style. Coffee is the same supplier in every Holiday Inn Express & Suites. One thing I don't like is the shower water pressure, it's a tad weaker compared to other hotels I've been to. The location is nice as you can just do a 6 minutes walk to restaurants or to the core of good things Ottawa has to offer. Parking maybe full in the hotel so you may have to park a block away which is a minute walk. A warning though; eye sore and disgust right across the street is a facility where people do drugs and panhandling. Take your complaints to the current Canada's Liberal party, if it's bothering you.

Spent the whole day at the spa, and overall, my first experience was great. The staff were very polite, constantly checking in to see if I needed anything. The massage therapist, hairstylist, nail technician, and esthetician were all lovely people—it was a pleasure interacting with them☺️

I was completely satisfied with everything except the manicure, specifically the polish application. I didn’t notice at first, but once I got home, I saw that the polish wasn’t applied very well. For the price, I think it would be better to offer gel polish instead, as regular polish chips quickly and doesn’t last.

Overall, I had a positive experience, but the manicure was a bit disappointing.

I booked at last minute massage without issues. When I arrived, I was greeted by friendly reception and then I met my RMT, Samuel. He was fantastic, very nice and polite. He carried a calm demeanour and was great at walking through what I was looking for. He delivered an amazing high pressure massage which I requested. He was very professional and provided a great experience. Looking forward to my next visit.

I go to Holtz Spa for Massage Therapy and I always book with Bri. She makes the whole experience relaxing, comfortable, and also effective. She takes her time and puts in meaningful work every single time. I’ve been attending this spa and booking with Bri for over a year now and I would recommend Bri and the spa to anyone and everyone! The place is also extremely clean and always looks and feels so nice! Thank you Bri for all your hard work!!

Had great manicure, pedicure and facial. Felt great after 2 weeks of travel. Had the best massage of my life! I didn't catch massuse's name, she was older lady that specializes in Thai techniques. She got on the table to stretch my sore legs, it was incredibly helpful with my sore muscles. Would highly recommend.

Brittany did a great job on my massage. We went in for a couples massage and came out relaxed 😌. It was a bit busy when we first arrived but overall a nice place to get pampered. They had a great 'quiet' area where you could sit and relax. Some of the ladies provided good customer service while others not so much. I think this spa could definitely benefit with having all staff provide top notch service, especially if they want to be rated a 5 star spa experience. Overall experience was good.

Beautiful homestay, kind people, clean clean clean rooms and very comfortable! Good area, and easy access to all the important Ottawa tourist sites. Highly Recommend! Paula

My now husband and I had our wedding at Homestead 1880 this past July 20th 2024.

The day was SO beautiful! The weather was perfect, the details of the DIY projects we prepped for the day looked absolutely gorgeous with the venue as the backdrop.

The venue owner, Cathy Zuana along with her husband Ronnie did an absolutely incredible job prepping the property for our big day. Everything from the landscaping to how nice and clean the farm and farm house (that we rented for the weekend) was just picture perfect.

Everyone was in awe of how stunning the venue was! We received countless compliments and people asking about it throughout the day.

The venue was perfect for what we were wanting. I would recommend it to all brides who are looking for a venue that they can personalize in a way that suits them best.

We haven’t gotten our wedding photos back yet from our photographer but please enjoy looking through these photos that our guests captured, that we screenshot from our wedding video etc. As you can see from the photos, this venue is a dream come true!

My husband and I held our wedding at Homestead 1880 last September and I truly can’t say enough good things about this venue. You would never know it was a newer venue as the owners (Cathy and Ronnie) have it operating so smoothly. They were both an absolute pleasure to work with and were flexible and accommodating throughout our entire planning process. They were also able to recommend some wonderful vendors, including a phenomenal day of coordinator!

The venue itself is stunning and the bridal suite on site is convenient and fully equipped with everything you might need for an easy, fun, and seamless getting ready morning.

Cathy and Ronnie went out of their way to make sure we had the absolute best wedding day. I would not hesitate to recommend this venue to anyone!

Absolutely breathtaking
If you’re looking for the perfect rustic venue to get married, this is it 100%! We were beyond happy with everything! The property is beautiful, and the barn is exceptionally gorgeous! Cathy & her team were beyond accommodating!
The best part is you can do everything there! The guests did not have to move from the ceremony to a reception venue.

My family and I attended a wedding at this venue in the fall of 2022, and we were absolutely blown away by the stunning setting and high-end finishing of the facilities. The outdoor ceremony took place overlooking beautiful corn fields, which provided a breathtaking backdrop for the event. The reception was held in a renovated barn, which had been beautifully finished with high-end details including a stunning chandelier. The far side of the barn had a covered deck with multiple seating areas around gas-fired heaters, which provided a cozy and comfortable atmosphere for guests. We were also impressed to find that the barn had newly installed washroom facilities, which were clean and well-maintained throughout the event. Overall, we had an amazing experience at this venue and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful and luxurious wedding or event location. Five stars!

We recently attended a country wedding at Homestead 1880. The huge barn was fully restored and had beautiful sunset views of the country farm. Also amazing were the amenities including large modern bathrooms, very high ceilings with a gorgeous chandelier and outdoor covered fire pits offering comfy seating for some fresh air. The dance floor is large and the ambience is very quaint. What a great location for a wedding, birthday party or country hoedown.

I've stayed here a few times now. Always have a good experience. Right near Spark street and about 10-15 min walk from Parliament. They have nice conference rooms for functions. The breakfast is decent, scrambled eggs, beans, hash browns, porridge, toast, cereal, waffles. And my wife who eats gluten free was able to ask for potatoes made separately and gluten free toast, which was quite accommodating.

Highly recommend, especially if you need an accessible room. If you are a wheelchair user, the accessible suites are great - GIANT bathroom, lots of room to move around, lowered kitchen sink you can roll under etc.
Every staff member I spoke with was super helpful. The breakfast was amazing and the in-house restaurant was good as well.
My only complaint was that the pull out couch in the suite was not particularly comfortable, but I think that is the general nature of pull out couches.

This downtown Ottawa hotel is in a great location near lots of nearby small restaurants and bars and within walking distance to the Supreme Court, Parliament building and Ottawa canal. Rooms at the hotel were roomy and clean. The complimentary breakfast was ok but food at the hotel was very good quality. A nice bar in the lobby and friendly staff.

The hotel is nicely renovated and the room was looking very good. However the room was poorly stocked with kitchen supplies (not enough dishes/cutlery, no dish sponge). The breakfast was good, however due to the hotel size the breakfast experience was very poor.
The location is also great with lots of amenities.
The pool was amazing! The staff was very professional and courteous!

The location of this hotel was okay and the staff were very nice and welcoming. However, the breakfast was a bit disappointing — in my opinion, it’s worth about $10–$15 at most, not more than that. What surprised me most is that the staff ask guests to clean their own table and put away the dishes after eating, which doesn’t feel like proper hotel service. Overall, the hotel is fine, but definitely not the greatest.

The cupcakes were top tier! They looked so nice and were perfect for my birthday party!! 10/10 quality.

Great location for a small event. Intimate space in a great location with many nearby amenities. There is a great little cafe and patisserie right outside the entrance. It also has an entrance from inside the horticultural centre. Sis and I attended the ottawa film career fair( sis is a budding web series creator) and we really had a great time. I was not discovered so I will try a soda fountain maybe nearby.

Wonderful venue for rollerskating events I attend. Nice washrooms, there's a little restaurant attached and the building is a good temperature even in winter.

Great place for festivals etc.like the Cuban Fiesta that is organized every year. Clean and spacious too.

Large space which can be used for different purposes. Good air circulation and it is found in a very lively area with lots of cafes

Lovely venue for events. Very open and airy especially if nice day outside. With good decor can feel very welcoming for large space.

I was very skeptical in the beginning looking into the recent poor reviews. It was a last minute booking as I was attending a conference and all venues close by were sold out.

Pros:
1. Excellent serene view from the 10th floor.
2. Well spaced rooms with a nice kitchenette.
3. Clean bathroom.
4. Quite and sound proofed rooms.
5. I had to just cross the road to reach the wonderful ottawa river.
6. Very close to city centre with transit taxi service that requires you to just press a button to book taxi in seconds.
7.Lifts were working fine

Cons:
1. The front desk should be trained to be polite. I could sense selective behaviour by one of the white staffers who used to generally sit in the mornings. She was not helpful at all on the first day ( 20 sept at around 3.00 pm) when I reached thorougly jet lagged from India. Her demeanour was rude and unwelcoming. The other staffs were all good.
2. Cleaning of rooms were not carried out daily
3. Towels were not replaced daily
4.Except for buffet breakfast, no all time dining facility. We need to go out or fetch ramen in the small store near front desk.

Overall it was a pleasant stay for me.

We were thoroughly disappointed from start to finish during our visit to the hotel. Upon arrival, there is very little space to park a vehicle to proceed to check in. Upon arriving at the front desk, we were presented with a sign that read that the pool is out of order indefinitely, a big setback as our children had their hearts set on swimming. It would have been nice to be informed of this matter ahead of time, as we would have booked elsewhere. We were checking into two rooms, yet were told that both rooms needed to be charged to the same credit card. I had asked earlier in the week if our two booked rooms could be side-by-side, and the staff said they would do their best to accommodate my request. They advised to phone the hotel the same morning of our check-in, which I did, to remind them of the request. The result at check-in: one room on the seventh floor and the other on the eighth. With the little parking available in the hotel’s exterior lot and a lack of parking available in the area, the front desk staff informed us that there was underground parking available for an extra fee (a surcharge that did not end up on our final bill at check-out).

The elevator ride up to our room was a scary one. It sounded like it hadn’t been serviced and was overdue for one, as it made a loud noise, similar to an overloaded and unbalanced washing machine. There was a note on the side of the elevator that read “If you get stuck, press the Open Doors button”. My daughter was scared of the elevator and asked to use the stairs during our stay as she felt unsafe in the elevator.

Once we got up to our room, we immediately noticed sights that speak loudly for the one-star rating given. The bathroom was poorly cleaned, with streaks visible on the tub as if it had been cleaned with a dirty, dry rag. We pulled out the pull-out bed and quickly placed it back, refusing to sleep on what came across as a disgusting setup with dirty sheets. To make matters worse, one of the red couch cushions had white stains on it, possibly indicating semen.

Our sleep wasn’t much better. The room’s temperature could not be changed as the thermostat panel was non-functional. Due to our room being located near the elevator, we were treated to the sound of the noisy elevator going up and down well past midnight. The noise resumed again around 4:30 in the morning.

To make a long story short (TL;DR): I’ve stayed in nicer two-star hotels compared to this four-star establishment.

I stayed at this hotel from September 19th to 21st, booked through Expedia. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing for a 4-star property.

On check-in, I was given Room 1111. Within an hour, I noticed the room temperature was not adjusting at all, despite setting the thermostat to 18–19°C. I reported the issue to the front desk, and maintenance confirmed that the thermostat was not working. At that point, I was already trying to sleep, but I had to go back down and request a room change.

The receptionist told me no similar room was available. I asked about an upgrade or any other solution, but he said he could not do anything without his manager and did not even attempt to contact the manager that night. The next day, I asked again for help, but I was still left in the same room with no resolution.

Later, they moved me to Room 1213, but it had the same issue—the temperature stayed at 23–24°C and could not be adjusted. I was given a fan, but it was loud and made it difficult to sleep. On top of that, the blankets were uncomfortable, and overall I did not get proper rest during my two-night stay.

For the amount I paid, I expected much better service and basic comfort. Having to “survive” two nights without proper heating/cooling in a 4-star hotel is not acceptable. I strongly feel that the hotel should have ensured rooms were in proper working condition before assigning them.

While the room that I stayed at was nice, my relative and I specifically asked the front desk to have the house keepers not come to our room to clean our rooms early in the morning and to have them come later at 12 noon. Yet, every day during our stay, the housekeepers kept coming into our room at 9am.

Then our final night staying, our room not only wasn't fixed and not cleaned, no one collected the dirty towels that were in the bathroom. My relative and I tried to explain this issue to the front desk but the two people at the front desk when we were checking out were extremely rude, stubborn, and disrespectful trying to act like the housekeepers did nothing wrong and tried to deny any responsibility, and they tried to insist that we screamed when we were using a calm but assertive tone to make our point and no one else who was around pointed out that we were screaming.

The front desk clearly doesn't know how to take criticism well. Please do not stay at this hotel if you're visiting in Ottawa or Gatineau.

Parking $14 and breakfast $16 not included with room, the room was dirty, with sticky surfaces, grime and hair in the bathtub, a peeling chair etc. Pool is closed and we were not informed before check in. View was terrible (construction site and office buildings, not a thing worth looking at). Staff told us breakfast was included and the next day said it would be $16 per person, and didnt offer to do anything about it. Just terrible service. Would never book again.

I used to go here all the time to get my hair cut. So much better than my new barbershop. The staff here always cut my hair right the first time, but my new place always cuts it differently than how I ask.

I love this place. The barbers all make you feel at home in a really laid back space. Lots of conversation between the staff and customers happens all over the store.

Mitch is amazing, my son and I have been seeing him for years and he's always personable and takes time to make sure you're happy.

No shampoos or blow drying here. It's just a barber shop with trimmers, straight razor cleanup and plenty of kind souls there to get you looking your best. Walk in, appointments are welcome. Pop in!

Oh, and they have a shop dog named Clyde. He's pretty damned great, too.

Reviewing for my husband, he absolutely loves this place. He started getting his hair and beard trimmed by Jay a few years ago and swears by him. While Jay was away he trusted the other guys in the shop and was just as pleased with the service and work done. Great place, great staff and awesome service. Keep it up guys 👌

Walked in as I was referred to House of Barons from a shop up the street. A short wait and a great experience. Great customer service. I was hoping to get a straight razor shave but I will insist next time.

Went in for a kid’s cut for my toddler, and Ryan was fantastic - patient, listened to what kind of cut I thought would look best, and he was great with my son. He even hyped him up to play the Pac-Man arcade game they’ve got in the shop! Great experience overall.

Love the place , need a little taking care of the arcades when stupid people don't respect the machines . I have seen people hiting the pinball or arcade so they can break them .

Besides that staff is beautiful and amazing 👏 . Love the idea that they make targ beer and it's so less expensive than budweiser.

Stumbled upon House of TARG while staying in Ottawa, so glad we did. Free Play pinball and arcade games on Sunday with a live DJ playing 80s music with a dancefloor. Really friendly staff, great mix of all ages playing games. Had a blast, we hope to be b back again next time we're in Ottawa.

Everyone, including customers, are always super friendly. I have never had a bad experience coming here.

I do find it can get a bit pricey (food, game and beverages) if you don't attend on a freeplay night/time. The perogies are delicious though.

I had heard good things about the house of TARG, how it's a staple in Ottawa and such, but was honestly disappointed. The place feels cramped even with 20 people around the stage listening to the live music.

The tickets for live music were expensive (20$) in my opinion, made worse by the fact that they take cash only at the door, so you're gonna have to pay surcharge at the on-site ATM if not prepared. Strange expectation in today's world to operate a cash-only business. The artists in the concert was excellent, talented and funny, but the sound quality and acoustics in the venue were beyond horrible. I felt bad for the artists.

The food looked good, but I can't imagine how they justify selling perogies for 22$ + tax + tip when it's a poverty meal that took Polish people through wartimes. The profit margin on it is around 1900% which is just insane. The arcade games cost around 2$ each, which again isn't exactly cheap, but perhaps justified for antique/legacy games. Their free-play nights for 12.50 sound like a good deal though!

Overall, it was a checklist item for me to see the place but I don't think I'd ever go again.

You can find affordable products with good quality here, and you can also enjoy food and drinks. Most of the items in my home are from here, and I absolutely love them.
But UPPLAND sofa was really uncomfortable so we change it and bought another sofa.

What’s really great is that you can actually touch everything, sit on the chairs, or test out the sofas.

I’d rather throw my money away than buying anything from IKEA after buying a drawer and contacting the Customer Service because it was falling apart. It ended up nowhere. The Customer Service doesn’t help very much. I had to follow up on my own complain and then even after they said they’re going to help me with the issue they didn’t email me. They just ghosted me:) so if it’s cheap, there is a reason for that. However, the drawer i bought wasn’t cheap.

These days, you can pick up a bouquet of flowers or a plant from any grocery store, even costco, but if you want something special, a floral arrangement that's unique and meaningful, then flower shops like In Bloom is the place to go.

When I called, I spoke with a staff member (I didn’t catch her name), and she was very patient with me since I wasn't quite sure what I wanted. I knew I wanted something special for a friend, and she offered helpful suggestions that aligned with my budget. The bouquet that was delivered was beautiful.

I appreciate that they are an independent store, as this is important to me. While grocery stores also sell flowers, I wouldn't recommend them. We hired James as the DJ for our wedding at the end of August and he far surpassed our expectations! He was super friendly and had great suggestions when we met to discuss our needs prior to the wedding. I loved that he took all of our suggestions and ideas into consideration and our wedding soundtrack reflected us perfectly.

At the wedding, he was really able to feel out the crowd and had the crowd up dancing the whole night. Several people commented on the music and how much fun they had because of it. It was a huge factor in our awesome night. A great choice for any event!

The store sells few dress items, bags, cups, notebooks and few other items. Cross selling.

Indigo is our favourite store to buy books, plushes, candles, and teacher’s gifts. They have cool toys and candies that are not easily found anywhere. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
Specifically in this branch, the cashier in the first floor is usually closed and you have to pay upstairs. Sometimes it’s also difficult to get help in the first floor, all staff is in usually in the second floor.

I love going to this place. I discovered a whole another part of the Library when I decided to take the escalator up and it looked so magical. They have such beautiful collection of mugs, candles, pillows, merchandise and other accessories. The book collection in itself is fabulous. The only thing I wished was the stuff to be a bit pocket friendly. Regardless, I Absolutely love the vibe of this place!!! Also you can relax on the sofas and read whichever books you'd like and put them back in their place. Cool yeah!

Indigo in Ottawa, Ontario, located right in the heart of the city, is truly a gem for book lovers. Every time I visit, I discover so many amazing books that I can’t wait to add to my collection. The prices are great, and the atmosphere is so inviting—it always smells wonderful inside. The staff is friendly and helpful, making the experience even better. There’s something about the cozy, book-filled atmosphere that sparks new thoughts and ideas, making you reflect on things you hadn’t considered before. The selection is excellent, with a wide range of books and products to choose from. It’s a place I always look forward to visiting, and I leave inspired every time!

It was an amazing store, the lady at the till was great, and the selection is awesome! The only thing is that me and my friends all bought books, and we were sitting while I was just finishing briefing a book. Then 2 of my friends dozed off and a Karen lady who worked there with red hair and tattoos woke them up and told them they weren’t allowed to sleep. I’d understand if we weren’t customers but we literally bought a bunch of stuff and were reading books and she was pretty dismissive about the whole thing. The atmosphere was ruined so we just left. But the store itself is fantastic I just wish that the lady was a little more personable

Fab at Rideau was super helpful, fun and honest in his guidance while getting me into a new made-to-measure suit. I had been eager to buy a nice new suit that would stand out from the rest of my wardrobe now for a while so my expectations were high, but still exceeded! He is a great communicator, and well attuned to what's fashionable or well suited to his clients' style. Thanks again!

What an amazing place. Employees know exactly what they are doing. If you need a new suit, not only do they have amazing prices, they are also professional, courteous, and friendly making your shopping a unique experience. My fiance ended up using their amazing two suit deal and purchased his groom suit as well as a fun blue suit for other occasions.

Their suits are made-to-measure, using high quality fabric, and every customization you can possibly think of. Simple yet complicated questions asked by staff are used to create your unique suit to your taste and standards.

We had a lovely experience working with Indochino at the Rideau Centre. They were kind, and so helpful. We had suits made for the groom, father and brother of the bride, and the groomsmen.

The staff at Indochino were awesome to work with, particularly with my brother who has a disability and required some extra accommodations. Fab at Indochino worked with my brother and I was very touched by the patience and respect offered to my brother, they made him feel very special and I'm still hearing him talk about this experience months later.

Avoid at all costs.

You’re better off buying from Alibaba express, DHgate, or any other made in China website, they’re made at one of those types of manufacturing facilities in China anyway. The quality of their suits is not even close to what they market. For a wedding party where matching suits were ordered they made one of the group members suits with the wrong lapels. Inexcusable. Taylor does not listen to instructions and suit came ill fitting. Seems are loose, loose threads everywhere. The suits are packaged in what some may call a pizza box and arrive filthy with factory debris.

Uodate on my review below. I ordered about 3 weeks ago. They told me it was taking longer these days for delivery. Exepct 5-6 weeks, was what I was told. Well under 4 weeks and today I received my order. The pants and vest fit perfectly. The suit jacket needs a minor adjustment, but the store had said they do itt there when required. Overall first impression is it looks good, fits great. I have added pics of how package arrived.

This review is for the booking, selection, and fitting for a new suit. Overall it was an easy process, although they could have explained it better. They ask you what type of collar you want and types of pockets. Take the time to show me, this is all new and I don't know what is what between collars or pocket styles. In my next review I will show off the results of my visit, with the new suit, once it is delivered.

Don't forget this store is a made to order suit store, and it does take 4 to 6 weeks before yiu get delivery, so plan ahead, or choose off the rack somewhere else if you are in a huŕry.
