Vera is so incredibly talented. My hair was a hot mess when I first came to her; balayage that wasn’t consistent (my hair had literally 3 different colours), grey roots that seemed impossible to colour, and extremely dry brittle hair with broken ends. I was going to an upscale salon and was frustrated how bad my hair was looking. I’m so fortunate to have found Vera. After a year of seeing her, my hair hasn’t been this healthy in years! The hairs around my face and top of head don’t break anymore. Her balayage is beautiful and I love the colour (never turns orange/copper like all the other colourings I used to get). She flawlessly covers my greys that just blends effortlessly with my balayage. She’s also incredibly talented with how she cuts my hair (I have thick curly hair). Vera is so passionate about her work. I highly recommend her!!

The treatment took exactly three hours, and I felt very welcomed as a first-time client. The price I paid matched what was listed on the website for my hair length, and I really appreciated that there were no extra charges based on my hair texture.

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Teresa truly saved my hair today on basically zero notice after I messed up fixing my own roots. Not only did she fit me in her very busy schedule on the same day, but she worked absolute magic on my hair and I have never been so happy with my hair. I have been going to Vivid Hair Design for the last few years and absolutely love it. I was initially going to the Capitol Hill location, but moved over to the 14th Ave location when they transitioned their full team there. Either way, the same welcoming and stylish brand has been upheld by staff and design. I love the conversion of the house into the studio… It’s incredibly bright, airy, and relaxing. I also appreciate the wide selection of hair and skin care products, as well as the little touches like beverages and snacks available.

I have specifically been seeing Fedora, who has been incredible. She’s very insightful with the way she has helped me to evolve my hair to work with my natural palette, face shape, and hair texture. She tracks what we do in each session so we can assess direction for subsequent visits depending upon season and mood. Fedora is also just incredible nice to be around. She’s very intuitive and perceptive, so if I’m feeling particularly cheery and energetic we’ll dive in to great conversation with lots of laughs. If I’m feeling tired.. she’s wonderful at making the appointment feeling rejuvenating with more quiet, spa-like moments. She has perfect range through all the seasons of life :)

Really like Fedora's work as a hair stylist. She knows hair styles! She ensures that not just the main cut, but each detail of it is done well, creating cuts that look good, are sleek, have good lines, and are styled well. Had my hair a few times with her, and I'm happy with each one.

I have been coming to Vivid Hair for the past two years and it is the best hair salon I have been to. Being a university student, my stylist, Fedora, is always transparent with me about pricing which is something I have not had at other salons. She does an amazing job and I always leave satisfied, getting plenty of complements. I have thick, long, curly hair and she is amazing at handling it and recommending products that ACTUALLY WORK! I have transformed my dry, chlorine damaged hair and scalp into silky thick waves since seeing Fedora, she really knows her stuff. The staff are all really friendly, making the atmosphere comfortable, welcoming, and safe.I always look forward to my appointments with great chats, an AMAZING head massage, and leaving the salon with gorgeous, beautiful smelling hair. I’ve officially been a loyal White Beauty Space girly for over a year now and guys let me tell you this place is IT. If you’re looking for nails that could get pinned on a Pinterest board a hundred times over this is the place to go.

I’ve done a few different designs with Top Master Katya and every single set is done with so much attention to detail. The cuticle prep alone deserves an award because they stay perfect the whole time. My latest set is the burgundy one pictured below but last fall I had the burgundy with cherries which was literally my all time favourite and that one literally lasted me for two months and it was still flawless. That’s how amazing they are here.

The staff and the atmosphere are just as incredible as the nails. Everyone is so welcoming and professional and it makes every appointment something I look forward to. Truly a 10/10 experience every time. 🫶🙂‍↕️

I had and appointment with Sherrie and I really liked it. It took me a while to find a place specialized in curly hair, but I went in and did not regret it. She didn’t put any pressure on me to have a complex routine or to use some professional products, which was really appreciated. They are also really honest, as I booked the deluxe hair appointment and I ended up not needing it, so she adjusted the price!

First time ever getting a curly hair cut and it was AMAZING!

Did quite a bit of research before choosing the salon I wanted for my first trim. A lot of other top curly salons in Montreal seemed really focused on pushing their line of curly hair products, especially during the consultation, something I wasn’t too keen on. The reviews also noted them to be a little noisy as well and not very time sensitive for their customers.

Aura Beauty stood out though as a prime contender due to their reviews, no pushiness, 2 co-owners who were both extremely experienced and the ones doing the hair cuts, and overall salon policies and inclusivity.

I was very impressed and very happy I chose this salon! I have never had a cut looking this great and I received some wonderful tips that equally saves me money, and helped steer me towards different techniques I should use at home.

My salon-ist was Cyan. However I’m sure Sherrie is also extremely fantastic, as they’ve both trained and worked together for years.

I had a haircut here, and it was a complete disaster. She ruined my hair. The layers have absolutely no harmony, and the front looks like a staircase.

I even told her I wasn’t happy with the result, and instead of offering a refund, she suggested I come back for another cut to fix it. How could I trust her again after this mess?

If you want to say goodbye to both your hair and your money, go to her. This haircut is an absolute nightmare.

Went with my husband to get highlights together, I arrived at 2 pm and did not finish till 8 pm. During my appointment my hair dresser did 3 other ladies hair which I’ve never experienced in my life before. During my consultation I showed her the hair I wanted and received absolutely nothing close as well as my husband. We were changed $650 and left unsatisfied.

Owner and hair dresser messaged me to remove my review however I will never. Extremely unprofessional and dissatisfied with their services. Within 24 hours me and my husband both coloured our hair back to brown due to how botched and horrible our hair turned out. We just wasted $650, literally went to the garbage.

After living abroad for 16 years, I was excited—but admittedly nervous—about finding a new hair salon upon moving back to Canada. I came across Fifteen Twelve and was initially hopeful when their receptionist confirmed they carry the same brand of colour that’s used in salons here in the U.K., which is what I was looking for.

However, the experience quickly became frustrating. Despite clearly explaining via email that I do not require a toner (something I've consistently done at salons overseas without issue), they refused to book me for highlights without an in-person consultation. Oddly enough, they didn’t offer that consultation either—just a hard no to moving forward.

To make matters worse, the original date I requested for highlights was suddenly “no longer available,” without any alternative or effort to accommodate. I then requested to be connected to the salon manager, but never received a reply. No follow-up, no acknowledgment—just silence.

Frankly, the customer service was appalling and extremely unprofessional. It’s disappointing to receive such poor communication and lack of courtesy from a salon that otherwise presents itself as high-end. First impressions matter, and unfortunately, this one made me feel like my business wasn't valued at all.

Chris has done my hair three times and I have been obsessed with the results every single time. I get a full bleach out and colour and the results are AMAZING every time. I get so many compliments all the time about my hair. Chris is so creative and thinks of really cool colour ways but still listens to my ideas and I’ve never left a hair salon that happy every time. He really is a bleach magician.

I had my hair done by Lyudmila for my wedding, she is an absolute joy to work with. I’m not very experienced about hair, so in stylists I look for skill, knowledge, style judgment (because mine is not very good most of the time!!), honesty, calm and kind personality, and passion for their craft. Lyudmila has all these traits and made me feel at ease right from the get go when I got my hair trial done with her. I also had makeup done at her place. I went in with some expectations and hopes for the style but since she is experienced with weddings and how certain looks show up in photos etc, she helped guide my decisions. She was respectful of my thoughts and never pushy or did things without telling me, which I appreciated because I feel some stylists had done that with me before. She is a real professional. At first I wasn’t sure if it would turn out well since I never had hair and makeup done before, but my guests and family all had amazing feedback and it did show up beautifully on the photos. She really made me feel and look like a bride. On my wedding day I was a frantic mess and stressed out and hungry, she offered me tea (physically distanced) and was thoughtful to give me some snacks and played calming music so I could de-stress before the big day got underway. In that way she really became an integral part of my wedding memories :) I wouldn’t have done it any other way and am so glad I met her because I will go back to her again for hair colour.

I am so in love with my hair! Martin is one of the best stylists I’ve ever had. I came in with my hair cut to a bob with 3 drastically different colours from root to tip (red, blonde and brown) and Martin was able to make it all one colour to match my light brown extensions. Martin spent around 10 hours fixing my hair and stayed super late to make sure everything was exactly how I wanted it. He is a perfectionist and pays attention to every detail! He is so polite and funny, I loved spending all day with him! I couldn’t be happier with my experience with Hair by Banks and I would recommend them to anyone!

I had my hair coloured by Marisa, and she is SO incredibly talented!! After being blonde for years, I decided to go a bit darker and Marisa absolutely nailed it. I’ve honestly never left a hair appointment feeling this happy with the results. She took the time to really listen and understand what I was going for, and her attention to detail shows. The salon itself is so cute, with such a warm and welcoming vibe from the entire team. I feel bad making this review because I felt that I had a good experience in the moment and my hair looked gorgeous immediately after my appointment, but a few days and a couple washes later, I’m feeling super bummed about my hair. I had a haircut with Martin for a trim and some curtain bangs. I mentioned that I had previously had a bad experience at a different salon with short, uneven layers that I didn’t ask for which had taken me over a year to grow out. He said that he could add some slight layers which I wouldn’t be able to notice. I told him that I trusted him, which maybe is my fault for not being explicitly clear about what I wanted as my hair ended being thinned out quite a bit which I wasn’t expecting. I previously had thick, full ends which now look thin and wispy. I feel like I’ve left with half almost the thickness I had going in. I have layers throughout my hair that are about half the length of the rest of my hair, and I know from experience will take a year+ to grow out and regain my thickness. I’m feeling devastated that I have lost so much volume in favour of giving my hair some “shape”. I also have some face framing layers which are quite uneven, and overall I feel that the haircut has left my ends looking messy and shaggy. I had such high hopes for a salon with such amazing reviews, but now think I’ll have a hard time trusting any salon going forward. :( at the end of the day, my hair looks okay, but I feel that it wasn’t what I asked for and I don’t feel that my concerns were heard.

I've been getting colour services with Marie-Eve for 5 years now. We've gone through many hair colour transformations together, from coloured/marbled roots, to all over fashion colours - and since I'm now living 4 hours away from Toronto - we decided to work in a nice balayage over several appointments so I can deal with the grow-outs (up to 16 weeks out). Despite the long distance travel, I still manage to make it down here and treat myself to some Marie-Eve magic. The salon itself has great energy, lovely aesthetic, and the staff are really kind. It's a great experience every time!

I’ve been going to Jamila for haircuts and treatments for a while and was happy with how my hair turned out, so I felt comfortable booking a balayage appointment through her – something I had been wanting to do for a long time. The appointment ended up being moved to another stylist, Jhade.

Unfortunately, the results were really disappointing. Instead of a soft, blended balayage, I ended up with thick, brassy streaks that weren’t blended at all. The color didn’t suit my skin tone and just looked very harsh. It honestly felt like a rushed foil job, not the natural-looking balayage I asked for.

I came back for a correction, which got rid of the yellow tones, but also stripped out all the dimension – leaving me with flat, dark brown hair. At that point, it just looked like I had a root touch-up. After spending $450 and damaging my hair with bleach, I was left with basically nothing to show for it.

I reached out to the salon and was told I couldn’t get a proper redo or refund, just the tip amount back. I’ve attached their response here so you can see it for yourself.

Really upset and disappointed with how this turned out, especially because I trusted them with my hair (which I take VERY seriously) and was excited about finally getting balayage.

Update: After I left this review, the owner responded publicly in a very dismissive and condescending tone, implying the issue was my fault and even suggesting I might “see things differently, possibly forever.” I’ve attached a screenshot so people can read it themselves– it really says a lot about how they handle client concerns.

Their response claims they “tried to fix my hair until 11PM,” but leaves out the fact that the correction appointment didn’t even start until 9PM – so I’m not sure how that was supposed to be exceptional. Overall, rather than taking responsibility or showing any empathy, they chose to deflect blame and talk down to a paying client who left with damaged hair and no resolution.

Update #2: Since the salon responded by implying my photos were misleading due to lighting, here are more photos taken in different lighting conditions –natural light, indoor, and flash – so people can judge for themselves.

As you’ll see, the color still looks brassy and unblended regardless of the lighting. I’ve shared these because I want to be completely transparent and let others make an informed decision.

What’s disappointing is that instead of acknowledging the issue, the owner has chosen to blame lighting, question my expectations, and even suggest the problem is how I “see things” – not the actual result. I just wanted a soft, natural balayage and a respectful response when I raised concerns. I didn’t get either.

My stylist, Mai, truly takes the time to understand my hair needs. When I had my hair coloured six months ago, she recommended products that have helped maintain the colour beautifully ever since and they’ve worked especially well for my thick, straight hair.

I recently visited her at her new location near the intersection of Richmond Street West and Spadina for a haircut and a treatment designed to boost shine and reduce damage. As always, she customized the cut to suit the length and texture of my hair, and the result was excellent. Mai consistently makes my hair look its best.

The salon is located on the 5th floor and benefits from an abundance of natural light and a nice view, making the experience even more relaxing.

Mai, my long-time stylist, recently moved her practice to this salon. Been going to her for YEARS for Japanese straightening, so it was a given that I'd follow her. She's the best! Always does a perfect job with excellent root blending, adapted to my unique hair needs and no damage. She's also fantastic with colour processes (similar skill set). Highly recommended - just don't book her before I get my next appointment scheduled ;)

I have been going to this salon for several years now. Although it may be pricey, I have been consistently happy with the results. My go to colour expert is Stacey. On top of her being top notch at what she does, she has a lovely personality. Would definitely recommend.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING EXPERIENCE ! My stylist was Patricia, and all I can say is chef kiss 💋. I went from black to red with no damage to my curls. 10/10 would recommend. I’ve had very bad salon experiences in the past and I have to say they restore my faith in salons. They are so kind and professional and actually listen to what you want. Again 10/10 would recommend

I walked into the salon feeling quite apprehensive, unsure if the service would live up to the price — but I’m happy to say my expectations were not only met, they were exceeded. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcomed and valued. The atmosphere was warm and professional, and the customer service was outstanding from beginning to end.

My hairdresser was incredibly attentive to my needs, took the time to listen, and made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire process. The final result truly spoke for the quality and care that went into the service. You can tell that this team takes pride in their work and holds themselves to high standards.

I have been seeing Patricia for more than a year now. She is fantastic! Great with curly hair for both cuts and color and also patient and always willing to giving advice. Patricia colored my natural hair for the first time ever, and I couldn’t be happier that she was the one to do it! The blonde balayage she gave me turned out absolutely stunning. I’ve never received so many compliments on my hair.

Beautiful salon. Love the products they use. I had the stylist Mia. She’s so kind and fast. I got a blow dry and curls. My hair actually held the curls the next day. The normally don’t when I wash and curl the same time.

Great experience with Lauren! The appointment was about an hour for wash, cut and style. Lauren asked a lot of questions about what I was looking for and took a reasonable amount of time. She took several inches off my long (neglected!!) hair and put in some long layers so it would fall nicely. I’ll definitely see her again in the future.

This was my first time getting my hair done at Jet Black and I had a wonderful experience. Everyone is very hospitable and Dawn was absolutely lovely and very informative throughout my entire appointment. I hadn’t had my hair professionally done in three years and I left with much healthier and much better looking hair. All around great experience :)
