My experience with Davidson Jewels (Ian) has been beyond the five stars allocated!

From the first encounter, Ian warmly introduced us to the world of creative jewellery design, taking the time to build a relationship, trust, and patiently supporting / respecting the process of decision making.

We know we made the right decision working with Ian. He “gets it” and made us feel so comfortable through the entire experience. I adore the rings he created and receive endless admiration from others. It is truly one-of-kind.

After looking for a wedding band that would work with my engagement ring, we decided to go the custom route and chose Davidson Jewels because Ian was helpful and reasonably priced. Last June, we went in to place orders for one custom platinum bad for myself and one titanium band for my fiance, for our wedding in October. On one occasion Ian needed to keep my engagement ring, so was good about contacting us quickly for a follow-up, but he's been challenging to get a hold of and we have needed to initiate follow-up appointments every other time. By September, we still didn't have any rings, and luckily we ended up needing to postpone our wedding otherwise I would be more frustrated. However, we haven't heard from him since early September. We have tried emailing and received no response, and his listed phone number is coming up as disconnected when you call. His hours aren't consistent and by appointment only, which also makes it difficult to just pop by.

I'm revising my initial review as we were finally able to get a hold of Ian and pick up our wedding bands.

Ultimately, we're happy with the wedding bands themselves, but weren't thrilled with the service and wouldn't recommend Ian and will not be using him again. We decided a 3 star review (changed from our initial 1 star review) would be fair as the quality of work was quite good, but it was frustrating that the response to our review (which we only left because we were at a loss for how to get a hold of him) was that we could email him.

It's an incredibly bizarre process to need to follow-up repeatedly as the customer and check if something is ready, especially for a product like custom jewelry. The onus shouldn't be on the customer to guess when something might be ready and have to follow-up, especially if there isn't an easy way to get in touch.

We got the sense that what we were asking for wasn't the most exciting commission, so it just wasn't a priority. Based on other reviews you might have better luck or a better experience if you're asking for something that's a little more complicated and intricate, and he can really have fun working on what you're asking for. Recognizing this, we're not actually sure if he'd even want this kind of work, but we have some other jewellery that needs some resizing and repair work that we likely would have asked Ian about, but will be going elsewhere for.

Ian worked with me on a custom engagement ring from start to finish. He was always very positive, encouraging, and professional. He added details to my vision that I didn’t even know to ask for, and in the end my fiancé was THRILLED with the final result.

Ian was highly recommended by someone who has bought few of his pieces before. I was extremely impressed from the moment I walked in, Ian was absolutely lovely to talk to and work with. He even stayed open late to talk with me about the ring, my ideas and how we could incorporate my girlfriend's (now my fiancé) personality into the ring. His work is exceptional. My fiancé and everyone who's seen the rings he made for me have all commented on its beauty and craftsmanship. Truly ecstatic. I will be going to Ian for all of my jewelry in the future.

Very fast service and lower price than the other shops I went to. Got in and out in 5mins or so. Had the battery of my watch be replaced. I'd recommend this shop for any concerns on your watch.

Excellent service! I brought my late grandmother's ring in for repair, it needed new claws and the stone replaced, and the overall cost was a little out of budget for me. The owner, a kind man, was very understanding and made it work for me and I am so excited to pick up my ring later this week, as it means a lot to me. True act of kindness.

Very small jewelry store, but it pacts a punch. The staff his very knowledgeable and can usually fix stuff on the spot. Very reasonable price as well.

I have been eyeing Fair Trade Jewelry Company and this ring and this company for a long time. I saw a ring that I loved back in 2019 or so and I showed it to my girlfriends, letting them know that should my partner ever propose, this is definitely the one. They came through. I love the look of it, but I appreciated the fact that you could get different types of gold, different types of real or lab-made diamonds and just the sustainability of it all.

Fast-forward to customizing of the actual ring and dealing with the FTJCO staff (especially Sydney ❤️), I couldn’t have been more pleased, satisfied, or any happier with the final product and the whole process in general. I would recommend them 1 million times over and certainly will be getting our bands from them as well. I love my ring. I look at it every day. It is such a special symbol and representation of us that I’ll cherish forever. Pardon the not great nails and all of that , it’s just all about the ring.

I recently purchased a wedding band and diamond ring for my wife from FTJCo and the experience was excellent. Sepideh helped us throughout the process and was always patient and thoughtful as we visited the store multiple times to finalize the design. She made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable.

I also looked at several other jewelers, but FTJCo stood out for their commitment to ethical sourcing, which was very important to us. That gave me confidence that I was making the right choice.

The rings turned out beautifully, with craftsmanship and design that matched exactly what we had hoped for. Most importantly, my wife loves them. I’m very happy with the purchase and would gladly recommend FTJCo to anyone looking for jewelry that combines quality, care, and ethics.

Our experience (mine and my fiancé's) experience has been wonderful from start of finish. Diba and Nicolette were very wonderful to work with. Diba was very accomodating during our initial consultation and responsive with every email and questions after the consultation. It was very smooth process with designing my fiancé's engagement ring. Nicollete was very helpful in store helping us visualise the custom engement ring before final production and resizing once we had the ring.

We highly recommend going to FTJCo if you're looking for a customer focused experience and having them work to get a wonderful engagement ring.

I had a great experience from start to finish. lots of options and beautiful designs. They're quite personable and helpful throughout the process. It made everything feel so easy when it's such a big decision. The completed ring was exceptional. incredible craftsmanship and quality without having to take on unmanageable debt. Their service goes above expectation with resizing, prog tightening, yearly cleaning all included. They provided accurate documentation for all the diamonds and appraisal information for insurance. Great philosophy, lovely staff, superb designers, affordable price! wonderful business!

We got our wedding bands from FTJCo and had a great experience. The turnaround for making the rings was super reasonable and everything came together with plenty of time before our wedding. Diba was very attentive and easy to work with. We love our rings and have been receiving a lot of compliments. We got our rings engraved as well and this was such a great decision for a secret little surprise inside the ring.

If I could give one small bit of constructive feedback for the store - the selection of yellow gold rings to try on was a bit limited when we were choosing our rings. They had plenty to try on but they were mostly silver in colour. It made it a bit challenging to really picture what the rings would ultimately look like but we went for it and were so happy with the result.

I was a fan of this store from the start, having met the kind and helpful owner when it first opened. Over the years, we returned several times, but the service gradually declined, when the owner wasn't present. Initially, I brushed it off as an off day, but our latest experience was unacceptable. When we tried to return bent glasses, the staff responded rudely, downplaying the issue and suggesting we weren’t entitled to a resolution due to the “relatively low purchase price of $70.” Unacceptable.

I walked into Glam Bar Bazaar not knowing exactly what to expect, but I was genuinely impressed by the overall atmosphere of the store. It’s beautifully laid out — clean, well-organized, and visually very appealing. Everything felt thoughtfully curated, from the product displays to the lighting and aesthetic.

I did have a chance to speak briefly with one of the managers, and I just want to note that she provided impeccable customer service super approachable and attentive.

I called a last week about getting my bracelet shortened, the guy over the phone was super nice and informing.

When I came in he gave me an appraisal and left it with him for the week.

When I came back today I was greeted and called by name which I don’t see a lot of these days.

They ended up taking some links out and shinned it for a great cost.

I needed to have my wedding and engagement rings resized and found good reviews for Imperial Jewelers. The reviews were good, but I would like to say that the service was amazing! Eric was thorough in measuring and telling me about their process, which is all done in house. My rings were done in two days!!! They fit perfectly and shine as brightly as the day I was given them!

Beautiful work! I had reached out to Nelson regarding a custom made engagement ring and wedding band set about a month ago. He searched extensively for the perfect diamond to match my budget. I came in to see the options in person and chose the perfect stone. All in a month time.

Obsessed with the final product - Greg worked with my fiancé and I with integrity, responsiveness and top quality service. As an actuary, I did a tremendous amount of research to figure out the optimal price that maximized all of the C's. Turns out this wasn't necessary as Greg's pricing was better than the online competitors I benchmarked against. No filtering through hundreds of similar looking diamonds, we had it narrowed down after just a few emails. Plus you could see the diamond in person. The ring design process was also straightforward. Would highly recommend checking this small business out if you're in the Toronto area.

I shopped around at different independent and big box jewelery stores. Greg at Jacob Mercari offered the hgihest quality at the lowest price within my budget, all while being fully cusotmizable. He was also fantastic to work with. Will always recommend!

The best experience ever! I found Jewels of Toronto on Instagram and my now fiancé and I made an appointment and booked our consultation with him. Robert was so helpful. Not pushy at all. Gave us so many options and so much information. We decided after the appointment we wanted to make our ring with him. My fiancé and him set up following appointments I had a second appointment to try on all the diamonds as I wasn’t sure on size. Robert really came through. This is the best gift I have ever received from my parents. I brought my dad’s ring to redesign and this is what I got. I can’t believe it they did such a great job. It is amazing!!! If you have old ring and you never gonna wear it again please bring them to redesign and then you will get the perfect ring for yourself again. 😎😎

I had the best service coming here to fix some of my old necklaces. I wasn't sure what could be done and I was so impressed with how helpful and professional the service was. They fixed and cleaned everything to look brand new. I would absolutely recommend and will look forward to coming back again.

I had three rings (wedding band, engagement ring and this wolf ring) resized here and excellent work and friendly people every time 🫶
I’ve had other rings resized elsewhere but I’d always be able to (visually) tell that it’s been resized, cannot tell at all after resizing here and they definitely go over and beyond each time

My mom needed to change her watch battery and replace a fallen crystal on the face of her watch. We've had crystals on watches replaced before, and the results have always been extremely poor and visible. This replacement was expertly placed and impossible to detect.
The two owners were extremely gracious with their time. Would not hesitate to go there for any other jewelry-related needs!

The selection is immense and the prices are the best in Ottawa. They'll have my patronage, as long as I live.

My Fiance purchased an antique engagement ring online that was way too big! We loved the ring but ran into a couple issues from other jewelers with sizing it. We had a terrible experience in Westboro and so we decided to check out Kim Thanh. Our ring was sized from a 9 to 3.5 in less than a week. We were told it would be difficult based on the cut and placement of the diamonds so we were expecting a hefty price (was quoted $200-300 before). It wasn't even close to that. We stayed on budget and all of the stones look better than before. All of the clasps that had been out of place from being sized to a 9 were restored to their original beauty. Generally when you bend a ring back that small all of the clasps open and you risk losing stones if not reset properly. It has been three months so far and I am very happy with how they dealt with my ring. Thanks!

Had a vintage ring set from the 1920s resized and they did a fantastic job resizing and cleaning the pieces. They were able to go in between sizes to make sure it fit correctly. Great customer service and prices!

I went to visit this store when they first opened and were running a fun promotion where you could pick a little bulb off their living wall with randomized discounts towards the jewelry! I bought my first ring that day and it's become one of my staple jewelry pieces. The service I received was outstanding; the sales associates are lovely and very attentive.

I read many comments saying that they were pricey but worth it, I have to say they were right! I had my engagement and wedding band resized after giving birth. Yes it was pricey (white gold rings) but I'm truly happy with their work. I can't even tell where they added some gold and they came back polished and shining like the day I got them. Magpie’s custom jewelry design service was exceptional, and their selection of stones was fantastic. We worked with Jessie to design our wedding rings, and her enthusiasm, expertise, and understanding of our ideas made it such an enjoyable experience.

I had a fantastic experience working with Jenn to design a custom pair of lab-grown diamond stud earrings. She was knowledgeable, patient, and really thoughtful in helping me find a design that suited both my style and comfort. I’m so happy with how the earrings turned out!

Their pricing is also very reasonable. I had brought a pair of screw-back earrings to another store for a quote to replace the backings, and Magpie was about $100 less expensive.

I would absolutely recommend Magpie for anyone looking for quality custom jewellery, modifications to their jewellery, and genuinely helpful guidance.

My friends and I came here to get permanent bracelets and Sarah was SO helpful, kind and patient with us as we decided which chains to pick. She let us try different sizes to decide which we preferred, gave suggestions on which bracelets suited us best, and was lovely to chat with. If I could give her 6 stars, I would 🤍

I needed a unique wedding band, lost in ocean swimming, copied and made to match my partner’s and mesh with a unique anniversary ring. No problem. Done beautifully and some old gold processed as well. Laura was great to work with. Highly recommend this store ( Richmond St).

This place is wonderful. The store service was caring and efficient with great communication. The design service was great also. We had a custom ring done for our 25th anniversary and they worked with us (and our budget) to use my original wedding rings and make something special. When you go, ask for help from Candice. Compared to the assistance my fiancée and I received at other stores, Candice was by far the most resourceful and helpful. We were searching for a wedding band to match an engagement ring, and she was great in finding us one that paired well. My husband and I purchased my first wedding band from here and then two new wedding bands for our one year wedding anniversary. A great selection of gorgeous pieces with beautiful stones and metals. Staff are always very helpful and willing to work with you on what you’re looking for. For us, this included tracking down a second of the same ring at another store to have a matching pair. This was done with ease by the sales assistant Alysa at CF Market Mall. Overall, a great experience and a pleasant part of our wedding ring journey.

I had such an amazing experience with Styna Ronnia, the Assistant Manager (I think) at Peoples Jewellers. She helped me pick out the perfect engagement ring and wedding band and my fiancée absolutely loves them!

From start to finish, Styna was incredibly helpful, patient, and genuinely passionate about what she does. I had a lot of questions and wasn’t totally sure what I was looking for at first, but she guided me through the whole process without any pressure. You can really tell she cares about her customers and wants them to walk away happy.

Edward does fantastic work and runs a great shop, and is a real pleasure to work with. He made a custom engagement/wedding ring in platinum for us, set with many rubies that all matches perfectly. Despite platinum being notoriously soft, Edward's solid design has held up the years of every day wear and tear and still looks great.

Edward from Precision went above and beyond for me when I came to him with my wife's broken engagement ring. We bought it from a seller in the states and I did not want to ship it over in case it gets lost in the mail.

I had to find someone who I would highly trust to repair this ring, Edward was that person. He sat me down and examined the jewellery and proceeded to tell me how the ring broke and also explained the characteristics of the diamond. Then he told me how he would fix it.

The finished product was amazing, and the diamond looked secure. The best part was that Edward has affordable rates and his turnaround time was awesome. He even got me my wife's ring back during the holidays and I was able to "propose" once again on Christmas morning with a fixed ring.

My husband worked with Precision Jewellery to custom design my engagement ring which I absolutely love. It's beautiful, personal and easy to wear. We were both so pleased we decided to get his wedding band custom made there as well and the result was amazing. My husband & I have only been there a few times but we love it & trust the quality of their work. My husband has a few high end watches (Jacob & Co & Chris Aire) that need to be fixed & they are working on it. I brought in a few watches for battery replacement & 2 toe rings. I was recently hospitalized with health issues & had severe water weight. The nurses wanted to cut my toe rings off but my husband managed to get them off. They were bent out of shape & at breaking point. I was there yesterday & all fixed today. The owner Tawny is amazing & treats her customers like family. Absolutely brutal service.

Walked in to look at wedding bands. Barely an acknowledgement to our existence. As we look at the cases, pointing at certain ones that catch our eye, still nothing from the associate. In walks a loud, brash woman and the associate helps her immediately. Continuing to ignore us, not even an "I'm sorry, I'll be right with you". Continue standing around for 10 minutes and still no acknowledgement we exist, we walk out still to nothing from the associate.

My fiance was excited to try on and find her dream ring, but we will be taking our business elsewhere to a shop that bothers to treat us like humans.

I guess if you want service here, walk in and act like the most annoying person on earth. Incredibly disappointing.

The security guard was very unprofessional, told me the place was closed, and didn’t wait two seconds before getting out of his chair like I posed some kind of threat. I’m a repeat customer and carrying groceries. He was puffing up his chest like I was a threat, very unwelcoming and I haven’t even walked into the store yet. His job is keep the place safe, not to question every customer who isn’t doing anything suspicious. Update: google maps said the store was open, and the security guard represented this very store. If the owner thinks it is a separate business, he should look into that himself. Losing potential repeat customers.
