Well this was definitely our favourite gift shop in Ottawa. Like most big cities, they're flooded with cheap junk made from poor countries with materials that will fall apart in no time. But this place is different. It's high quality. Canadian made from what I seen. And great selection.

The selection of goods here is so vast. You can buy some Peace by Chocolate, a t-shirt or soap. So many options.

Definitely make this part of your stops when you come to Ottawa.

Absolutely LOVED this store. The staff were so gracious and helpful and friendly. I gave my wallet to a girl whose virthday it was and she was so touched. We sang her Happy Birthday as well and i left feeling so very happy. The store has so many lovely things and they were very cheerful, a true sign of people who love their job and velieve in their store!

What an extraordinary place. Great service, wonderfully airy layout. Terrific quality gear and a real joy to shop there...

I cannot say how much I love this woven blanket from Prince Edward Island that I got via maker house. it is wonderful. The quality is so good and the delivery was quick and seamless. Very very impressed. Will definitely use this group again.

Wonderful purchase of Maple Leaf Pins partially made from the old copper roof of Canada's Parliament Buildings. Each one is a little unique and they make a special gift. Part of the proceeds is also donated. Ordering and delivery could not have been smoother.

I did my makeup and hair with Dana and honestly, I can’t say enough good things about her. She really took the time to listen to what I wanted and made sure every little detail was perfect. My makeup turned out so beautiful exactly how I imagined, and my hair was styled perfectly and stayed that way the whole day. What I loved most is how comfortable Dana made me feel she’s so sweet, easy to talk to, and you can tell she truly cares about her clients. I walked out feeling super confident and happy with the way I looked. I would definitely go back to her again and recommend her to anyone!

Yelena did a beautiful job with my bridal makeup!

The whole process of working with her from start to finish was very smooth. Doing the makeup trial 2 months before the wedding at Yelena’s home was very helpful. I had an idea of what I wanted, but we were able to work together to make a few minor adjustments.

On the day of the wedding I was very happy with the final look, as were all the other girls who also got their makeup done. It held well through hours of outdoor pictures in full summer sun and heat, the ceremony, dinner and many hours of dancing.

I was pleased with how it showed up both in person and in the final photos. I felt beautiful, but still like myself.

I will be recommending Yelena to all my friends who get married going forward 🩷

Yelena as well as her second artist Lyz were truly spectacular, I cannot rave enough! Both my trial makeup as well as my actual day of makeup turned out truly perfect! Not only were they done early they also graciously on the fly were able to accommodate an extra person, as well as make use of less than ideal lighting in our space. Great store, unfortunately, they are limited in their offering in costumes due to Amazon. I relied on this store for years, both in costumes and dance attire. Sad to see it diminished.

Pretty pissed. Just drove through rush hour traffic and it's closed. It says 6pm yet I'm here at 5:35 and the store is black and closed.

Amazing, over the top customer service! Each time we visit the store for my daughter's dance apparel, the staff are always friendly, very approachable, and informative. They know all about dance and how dance apparel should fit!
During the COVID-19 stay-at-home order, my daughter needed a new pair of shoes for her virtual class. I called and spoke with the manager, Russell, who was incredible. He not only found the exact shoes needed, but to save us the travel, he offered to deliver the shoes to our home as he would be passing in our direction. Very kind and very understanding during these times.😊

I would really recommend this place. It is clean, cozy and charming. It does have a nice relaxed and homey attitude about it.
Much better than staying at a hotel of a similar price. The host responds quickly and it is fairly easy to enter.
There are stores that are relatively close.
Totally recommend staying at this place if you don't mind the drive.

Manny is an amazing host. Instructions were clear, the place was super clean and rooms were as described. Check in and check out were easy as well. The Tim Hortons coffee for the Kurig was a nice added touch!

I only gave a 5 star as that was the only option, Sandy and the entire staff deserve sooooo much more. I can’t express or thank them so much to have made our special day an absolutely perfect day. The manoire itself is so beautiful, the grounds are magnificent and loved that some of our guests could stay the night which came with a delicious breakfast. Now let’s talk about the food, which was AMAZING!!!!!! Every single one of my guests blown away, hats off to the chef. I could not have gotten through This beautiful day without Sandy and her team, thank you for making our special day even more special than we imagined! We definitely would have given you 10 stars out of 10 if that were an option ❤️

The day we walked in, my fiance was so touched by the venue’s warmth and energy. We instantly new this was the place for us. Sandy and her crew went above and beyond to make our day special. Felt like she was our fairy god-mother making our dreams come true.

We could not have picked a better place to get married than Manoir de la Foret. After all the years of planning (due to the pandemic, we waited an extra two years) Sandy and her team were wonderful and it turned out better than we could have ever imagined. Everything went so smoothly and because of that, we were able to be fully present and enjoy the day. We also chose to spend the night there, which aloud us to spend even more time with our loved ones. Thank you for being making our day so special. Amazing place for a smaller wedding! The outdoor ceremony space is so beautiful and is mostly shaded in the afternoon to keep guests comfortable. The indoor space is so cozy and very bright for the reception, and the food is absolutely amazing!
Sandy and her team were very patient, met with us quite a few times, and took the time to answer all of our questions to make our day special.

My husband and I got married at Manoir de la Foret in August 2023. It was a perfect day and that is owed in very large part to this venue and the owner, Sandy, who was an amazing support throughout the planning process and on the day of our wedding. Sandy and her staff are very knowledgeable, kind and organized, and made sure everything ran smoothly before, during and after the wedding. They were very accommodating of our special requests, were so hands-on and allowed everyone else to be present and enjoy the day. The venue itself is beautiful, intimate and surrounded by nature. We had about 50 guests, although the space could have very comfortably fit more. We were also able to stay overnight at the venue afterward with our families, which was such a bonus. We feel incredibly lucky do have gotten married here and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to any couple.

The ambiance is unmatched, perfect for catching up with friends, family, and even meeting new ones. The service was genuinely excellent; everyone was kind and attentive.
For starters their sharable bruschetta was so good.
I had the salmon poke bowl and really enjoyed i. The flavors were great, though the rice could’ve been cooked a bit more. My friend had pasta and loved it, just wished it had been cooked maybe two minutes longer.

Drinks were okay. I tried two mocktails and unfortunately had to send one back. That was the only downside of the night. They could definitely improve the mocktail options.

We played cards after dinner, and it made the whole evening even more fun and memorable.

Would definitely return when I’m back in Ottawa!

Thank you so so so so much for an amazing evening!! We were a group of 15, which usually makes it virtually impossible that everybody has the same feeling, but I am happy to say my entire family loved it all! To have an escape room, an amazing dinner, then playing games like darts, foosball shuffleboard tic-tac-toe connect four and on top of all that a wall full of board games! Also must give a special shout out to Brendan, he continued to go above and beyond to make sure we were all happy and he was so personable and funny and hugely attentive, We actually don't think we would've had that good of a time if he wasn't there that night! We're already planning other events to go back there because we all loved it so much. Highly recommended

Amazing night at Manor Lounge, definitely the hot spot on Elgin. Those criminal old fashioned were ridiculous, loved the smoke. The big guy made our night getting us on darts! Good end to our trip, we will be back.

The poutine was good, nachos were good, braised beef burger was alright. Portion sizes were huge for the nachos, very nice!

Went in with a bunch of coworkers and left with a bunch of BFFs!!! Service was on point and quick. The food was amazing and just delicious 😋. had my bridal shower here this past weekend & it was beyond perfect! Rosanna was a dream to work with to plan the event. And Donna was so wonderful on the day of. She kept checking in and made sure the day ran smoothly. The food was also so delicious. Highly recommend to host your event here!

First time here. Attended a company Christmas party and wow.. The food was absolutely incredible. Super friendly and helpful staff. Very attentive. The room was done up beautifully for us. Nothing bad to say about it. The best thing though, was that pasta! Holy cow!

Went to the Marconi Center Ladies Martini Night and had the best time!! The venue was so beautifully set up with amazing lighting, the martinis were all deliciously made by Dave and Donna at the bar and the Crudo Bar and Dinner Buffet were outstanding!! Kudos to Mario, the food was so fresh, plentiful and delicious!! We also were serenaded by a crooner by the name of Shawn Marino who was very entertaining. I will definitely be back next year!

Nice venue, close to churches, accessible to seniors. Bathrooms are old but very well cared for. Actually pleasantly vintage that way. Ladies room had lots of good space for touchups.

Margo Caribbean & Canadian Restaurant is a true gem! From the moment you walk in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere makes you feel right at home. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always quick with a smile, which adds so much to the overall experience.

The food is absolutely outstanding — bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The beef and pork are tender and seasoned beautifully, the fried chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and the stew chicken tastes like pure comfort on a plate. The sides are just as impressive: the spicy coleslaw has the perfect kick, the rice & peas are flavorful and hearty, and the macaroni salad is creamy and delicious. Everything pairs together so well, it’s hard to pick a favorite!

The combination of top-notch service, authentic flavors, and a relaxed, welcoming vibe makes Margo’s a place you’ll want to come back to again and again. If you’re looking for amazing Caribbean and Canadian dishes, this is the spot. Highly recommend!

Server was nice and the restaurant had a homey, hole-in-the-wall vibe, but the food was expensive for what we got.

If you get a meal and a drink, after tax it would be ~$40 per person. I got multiple meals because it was my first time trying this Haitian place, but I unfortunately will not be coming back.

The fish and the beef were seasoned well but very dry. The menu listed that the whole fish is $25-30 so you will get charged somewhere in that range (I got charged $30).

The fried chicken was also seasoned well, but felt hard to bite (dry). Photo is of the large-sized fried chicken set. The sauce was tasty though! But for $26 (pre-tax) I was hoping that the chicken pieces would be juicier and easier to chew.

The bottled drinks were $7 each (got the limonade). It was my first time trying Haitian lemon soda “limonade”, and it was nice and easy to drink, but for $7 felt a bit expensive.

The pikliz were nice to try—they have a strong vinegar taste so you’d enjoy them if it you like vinegar chips or vinegar soaked fries.

The fried plantains were also nice—they are comparable to having fried potatoes so it was nice to try.

If it’s your first time trying Haitian food it would be interesting to visit, but it is expensive for what you get.

If I ever visit again in the future I wish to see that the restaurant improves its fried food. Their seasoning was tasty and I think I would’ve enjoyed the food more if the meat dishes were less dry.

We’re visiting from New York and Florida with 9 Haitians, 4 of which were over 90 and everyone loved the food! They accommodated my elderly family members and made us feel at home! All of our food was cooked to perfection, everything really felt like a home cooked meal. The owners (sorry I didn’t catch your names) even turned the music up and we danced for a while in the restaurant, it was so much fun! It was so spontaneous but such a memorable time for my family and I and my family loved getting to connect with fellow Haitians! If you’re ever in the area you have to stop by for some authentic Haitian food and great energy from the most kind hearted people ❤️ can’t wait to come back!

I’ve been supporting Margo since their very first location. The food is still good—but the service has really gone downhill.

I came in today, rang the bell, and the young woman working saw me but ignored me. I rang again and waved. When she finally came, she acted like I was bothering her.

I ended up waiting 22 minutes for a simple order of plantains and griyo. What I got was mostly meat crumbs—it was obvious the person didn’t even check the plate before handing it over.

The place wasn’t even busy. There were only three customers—myself and a couple.

I’m not giving up on Black-owned businesses, but I truly believe you can level up and do better. The food is worth it, but the service needs to match.

Meal was very tasty. Kinda like home cooked food mom would make when visiting.

Tried other items in the past but the meatballs tonight were a first.

Will definitely try ordering more often.

This place is straight out of a fairy tale! The pink facade with flowers and unique window displays immediately grabs your attention. And inside, it's a truly magical world! The store feels like a treasure trove where every shelf and corner is filled with unique items. The ornate chandeliers, vintage furniture, and pastel colors create an incredible atmosphere.

You can find everything here: from beautiful dishware with lemon and bee designs to exquisite decorative items. And they even have a whole section with amazing Christmas ornaments!

Marilyn was fantastic! From the first day we met her at the Ottawa wedding show to the day we picked up our rings. With the Covid it wasn't exactly a usual experience but Marilyn was always there for us. She worked on my grandmother's ring from the 1960s and was able to size it to my hand and made it look like new! Then she custom made my wedding band to match. It was exquisite!!!! We cannot believe how beautiful the rings are. We highly recommend Marigold!!!!

Dani is a wizard—truly one of the best hairstylists I’ve ever encountered. I went in for a balayage and walked out with EXACTLY what I had asked for! He takes the time to really listen and never rushes you 😍

I am extremely disappointed with Dani's services. His lack of professionalism and quality of services, in addition to his blatant disregard for people's time is enough for me not to use his services again or recommend him to anyone I know.

Dani was recommended to me by a friend in Ottawa for mobile hair services. I am from Toronto and was coming into Ottawa for a friend's wedding for which I was a bridesmaid. Dani was doing hair for several people that day at the same location and I had the first appointment at 7am. I texted Dani the night before to confirm my time slot and to ensure he would have time to put in my extensions the next day. He confirmed both, going as far as to say "see you tomorrow at 7am".

I was at the meeting location right on time but Dani was not. I texted him at 7:03am and then again at 7:33am. He finally texted me back to say his colleague would start on my hair in the meantime as he needed to pick something up. I informed him that his colleague had already started on someone else who also had a 7am appointment. I also informed him that I had another appointment at 9am and needed to leave by 8:40am. We called Dani at least three times between 7am and 8am and each time he gave an estimate as to his arrival that was not accurate.

Around 8:15am, Dani waltzed in. He did not apologize once to all of us who were waiting for him or the fact that now everyone was effectively running late because of him. Several ladies had makeup schedules which had been carefully planned with ladies rotating between hair and makeup. My makeup appointment was scheduled for 9am at another location. Dani assured me my hair would be blow dried and curled with extensions by that time.

Dani rushed through doing my hair and extensions. There was no care taken with my hair at all. When it came to paying, Dani asked for full price + travel, which was ridiculous to me given that I waiting over an hour for him to show up. When I reminded him of this, he did not care, and informed me that he still had to account for his travel time. I paid him what he asked for, despite the blatant disregard for my time and schedule. Unfortunately, my hair did not last at all. I was required to re-curl it twice and I have never had that experience any other time I've gotten my hair done (which I estimate to be several times a year for the last 20 years). Would not recommend and the stress and money was not worth it.

Life is more beautiful when you meet the right hairdresser. What can I say more about Raya ? The welcoming is outstanding and exceeding all expectations . I went there with a dull hair and left with shiny healthy hair after protein session. I was completely impressed with professionalism and customer service.

Mario was amazing to deal with. He helped me with mine and my groomsmen suits for our wedding. He made me feel comfortable right away. He wasn't trying to push any sales on us. He wanted us to have good quality suits at a fair price. He even helped with coordinating the shoes, and accessories that we had purchased online. The fitting was a great atmosphere and had fun with my groomsmen. Highly recommend Mario and his team if you want someone who's professional and at a fair price.

Mario helped me find suits for my groomsmen last May, His service was extremely professional and he offered a wide selection of high quality suits at a fantastic price. Mario made the experience memorable by booking us into his store for a private fitting for myself and the groomsmen. Not many stores offer this sort of customer care for men. He even arranged for all of the tailoring to be completed, truly making him a one stop shop. I will be a customer of his for life.

I recently reached out to Marlin Travel for assistance with planning a Tuscany trip. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory.

Initially, I submitted a detailed request through their website's contact form, specifying our travel dates, preferred departure cities, and budget constraints. In response, I received an email from an agent , asking for more information to help tailor a suitable travel package.

However, instead of offering direct assistance or providing a customized travel package, they directed me to look at Air Canada Vacations and Transat holidays for duration and pricing ideas. This left me puzzled and frustrated, as I had expected a more personalized and professional service from a travel agency.

Overall, I found the service provided by Marlin Travel to be inadequate and disappointing. I expected this agent to offer more personalized assistance or at least recommend a specialized agent within the agency.

Based on this experience, I would think twice before using Marlin Travel for future travel arrangements and would caution others to manage their expectations when seeking assistance from this agency.

Travel booking was made by my parents and was truly bizarre. I wish I'd spent more time examining the travel before the trip, instead of assuming that because it was booked by a professional agent, it would make sense and be cost effective.

Essentially, flights to Mexico were routed through the U.S., meaning, of course, multiple customs checks and retrieving and rebooking luggage. The price was not competitive with what a friend found --she booked on the same date but flied on Aeromexico (she paid half what we did). Also, the flight times seemed unnecessarily early.

I'm not sure what I was expecting with travel agency assisted bookings, but I certainly was not expecting worse flights than I could have arranged myself.

Agent was dismissive of feedback and concerns. Won't be using them again. Recommend that others don't either

Over the years, we have traveled to a number of Sandals Resorts. Debbie Campbell has always guided us through the process with suggestions, guidance and advice. Without fail, she has always met and frequently exceeded our expectations. It's a measure of our appreciation that she's the only travel advisor we use and now in 2022 as we hit the road again she has been there to get things organized. She is without exception a brilliant and dependable lady. You would be well served if she's advising you too.

Had to book a last minute flight to Vancouver from Ottawa to pick up another car because when you hit A black bear, it can total your SUV. The very nice lady (sorry nice lady, l forgot your name) had booked a flight for me in three days AND under $700 on Air Canada. Sorry West Jet, there's NO comparison to Air Canada even in economy class.

I had my wedding dress altered here and Theresa is an absolute wizard!! She completely reworked the bodice of by wedding gown- front and back and turned it into exactly what I was hoping for and charged me literally half the price I was quoted by other establishments.

This dress used to not be backless and was full of illusion netting. Five stars!

I had a place in mind to alter my Enzoani wedding dress prior to the pandemic because I read they had worked with such dresses, but they closed down during the pandemic! =(

So I rushedly looked for another location in Ottawa with good reviews. In hindsight I don't know why I did Ottawa. Yes we were having our wedding in Ottawa but we lived in Brockville, moving to Gananoque. I guess I just felt there would be better services in a large city.

Theresa took me on and I explained what I wanted with the dress - to be fitted (obviously), and a bustle. I showed her how my dress had an attachment train and the dress itself had little hooks to connect it to.

I scheduled appointments well in advance. I was often coordinating them in conjunction with our other Ottawa appointments regarding the wedding, often taking time off work to come up.

On one occasion I came for my appointment and she said it wasn't done. She looked very upset at herself and said that someone else had lost so much weight and she had a lot on her plate. I get it, but I drove from Gananoque. She asked if I could return the next day. No I could not. It was a very expensive gas drive at the time. I left, defeated, going to try to figure out my life. My husband was in the car and told me to go back and sort it out, at least try it on again to see if I could do our choreographed dance in it. It's a good thing I did? She had found the dress, it was not done but half done? Also, no way I could do our choreographed dance in it so we went out to find a dance dress.

We scheduled an appt for last pickup and she told me that I need to remind her? This is bizarre to me because I don't know why I need to remind you of the appointment you made with me, you are the business. But regardless I put a reminder to myself with all my crazy life to remind her of our appointment the day before the next one.

All in all the dress was done very well. It's an amazing dress so it would have stolen the show either way. However, the hooks for my special attachment disappeared on one part. We found most of them but I think one was lost in the alterations. Would have been nice to have a heads up.

I would work with her again if I were local, but for someone who cannot go through the scheduling hoops I would not recommend.

WARNING Do NOT bring your wedding dress here!!

My alterations were so unbelievably over priced and so poorly done. It almost makes me tear up thinking about it. You could easily tell they were rushed and not completed properly. She cancelled a few of my appointments on short notice and took a lot longer then advised. I didn’t end up getting my dress back until the day before I left for my wedding. It added a lot of unnecessary stress and gave me no time to have anything fixed.

All buttons that were added to my train were either sewed on crooked, or falling off. We had to fix multiple buttons the morning of my wedding. My straps were sloppy and not tight enough. I had to keep pulling them up all night and ended up adding safety pins to keep them in place. I had requested “light” padding be added to the cups. However, she ended up adding +++ padding, which was highly noticeable, especially in pictures and it made the dress super uncomfortable. I had to cut them out half way though the day.

Overall, it was NOT a good experience and I would recommend looking elsewhere for any bridal alterations.

SIX VISITS! My alterations (a bustle, train shortening and going 1 size down) took 6 visits and wasn't ready until 5 days before my wedding when I was asked to provide her with more time, said no and I took it as is. It was a tad tight, the bustle wasn't complete, and she randomly changed the cups between the 5th and 6th visits to MUCH more padded ones, when my others were unpadded. I see all highly rated reviews but none are recent. I should have known. I would like to warn any bride, DON'T DO IT! Working with a seamstress who does not listen or communicate is not what you need with an upcoming day to plan.

Theresa is a master of her craft. She did an amazing job altering my wedding dress, paying great attention to every detail. I felt beautiful and confident on my big day, knowing and feeling that my dress was fit to perfection.

Masha did my wedding makeup for my May 2025 wedding. From the start of our interactions, she was super thorough, always making me feel extremely comfortable and she's overall just a sweet person! We did a trial 3 months before my wedding, she took her time and walked through every single step of the makeup application process. I’ve been coming here for the last few years and I have to say it’s always great service. This hidden gem not only does fantastic service when it comes to tuning watches and fixing and crafting jewelry but they also have great pieces for sale. It’s in house so they won’t need to send off your items and you need to come back in a week which is something I love.
