What an unique experience sleeping in a jail cell. At first, I was worried about the "creepiness", but it was totally fine. The cells are clean and have comfortable beds, warm blankets. The bathrooms and showers were fine. Nutritious breakfast is provided. Staff were polite and friendly. The tour of the jail was incredible - a real honest, eye-opener about Canadian history (very different from the Parliament tours). Great location. I would definitely stay here if I need to go to Ottawa again.

Thank you so much! It was a really special experience to sleep in a used-to-be jail. The people were friendly, rooms and shared washing rooms were clean. I think they did a really good job at creating a cozy atmosphere in the cells/rooms! The free tour (free for guests at the hostel) was also really interesting.

One suggestion: we did the tour after our stay and I would recommend to do that as well - as we realized what happened at this place during and after the tour (well, it was a jail afterall). It might feel a bit strange to sleep there (especially if you are sensible to something like that).

My stay in 'jail' was just perfect. I have never stayed at a hostel before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The staff were all friendly, the room was clean, the location was perfect! The only downside, if I had to name one, is that I could hear everything going on outside my room, but hey, who said that 'jail' was going to be soundproof :-). The tour of the prison was good too!

The location was perfect for us. Close to historical sites, easy to get around, and a rail station a block away. I expected some kind of a moldy, musty smell to be present in this place and I was surprised how nice and clean the air was! It smells good inside. The rooms, the washrooms and showers are very tidy. The staff is always busy cleaning.  I was traveling with my daughter, and we had a choice: stay in one large room with two beds in one of the "guest houses" in the area, or book two single cells at Ottawa Jail hostel. I am so glad we chose the latter. It turned out even more affordable and we enjoyed privacy. The cells were cosy, I liked the mattress: pretty bouncy with no indents. One thing I wanted to mention: I even did not know this about myself, but I twist and turn during sleep a lot apparently. It wasn't ever a problem, but with this small cell, I hit walls with my arms and legs a few times. The walls are made of brick - that wasn't very pleasant.  So, for people who are like me, I would recommend to choose a double cell for more comfort. I still loved the single cell - it is like a capsule hotel, but with a tall ceiling and you can stand inside. If you have suitcases - they can easily fit under the bed. There is a huge noisy construction site across the street - but you can't hear it inside, the thick walls shelter you from unpleasant sounds. We were on a busy schedule, so, unfortunately we missed the tour. I hope to come back, stay in this place again and learn about the history of this place.
And also - we loved the breakfast.

To start with, I often think people have unnecessary expectations of hostels. They are not hotels or Air b n b so people shouldn't treat them as such. With that in mind, I would give the hostel top marks for staff friendliness and helpfulness. Ariel and Chris I believe need particular mention as they went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable & hassle free. Ariel gave 2 of us a bespoke tour instead of saying it was too few to bother & Chris sorted my onward bus travel. The dorm rooms were clean, tidy & functional except for not having a lockable locker which it stated on the website at booking. The breakfast was good. The lounge area was great for chilling & the location excellent. The AC was noisy but that's what earplugs are for, which were free at reception.
The down town area was very close by but not too noisily nearby. I felt safe & care for. We all mixed well which is key to sharing. Bathrooms and showers were new and very clean. I loved this place & would highly recommend it.

I had my wedding at Sala Gatineau and Luigi and his team went above and beyond our expectations. The food was superb (pleased the most pickiest eaters), the hall itself is really beautiful and the whole team was very accommodating to our needs. They also make sure to incorporate new and unique concepts to make your wedding stand out.

It's very clear that Luigi has a passion for what he does and he worked hard to execute a smooth day for us. The maitre d Lana was also incredible and made sure we were taken care of throughout the evening. I can't say enough great things about our experience and highly recommend Sala Gatineau if you are considering it for your wedding reception.

Do not have your wedding here. There will be 3 weddings happening at the same time in adjacent rooms. You will hear the music from these rooms bleeding in while you’re trying to enjoy dinner and speeches. Would not recommend

We had brunch here for Mother's Day. I was a bit skeptical about going as I don't generally like buffets but my experience here was very good. Well laid out. Nice venue. The buffet had a good variety of hot and cold food that was replenished regularly. The staff were excellent, too.

For the past few years (except for the pandemic) the Christmas reception of the non-profit organization, which my daughter belongs to, has been taking place at the Sala San Marco. I have nothing but good comments for this place. The reception room is beautiful and grand. The catering company used are excellent. The food is good and plentiful. Their real key assets are their staff who is very pleasant, professional, quick, polite and friendly. As you can see, the family has become a fan of the Sala San Marco.

My husband and I recently celebrated our wedding event on August 15 2020 at Sala San Marco.

Our event was amazing and beautiful. The staff were great and sufficient. Always made sure my guest were content and had everything they needed. Michel the wedding director was a great help during my wedding preparations and during the pendemic. She kept me up to date on the pandemic health and safety protocols and guest list.
The venue was A+ so was the food. The stuff chicken was delicious, the broccoli soup was very flavorful... It was just delectable 😊
My venue was well decorated and ready when I arrived. Was I ever happy. The bathrooms were always cleaned and checked every 5 minutes or so... Which to me, was very important during the covid 19.
My husband and I are so happy that we were able to celebrate our wedding at the Sala San Marco during this hard scary time but yet we were not going to let covid win. Every one followed the protocols and Sala San Marco made sure of it as well.

I came to Salon Fiorella a couple of weeks ago for a booked appointment with Christa and left feeling very happy and satisfied. Firstly, the atmosphere was very welcoming. For my hair, I gave her a few pointers of what I wanted and she was able to deliver exactly what I was hoping for. She also gave me tips on how to keep proper colouring until my next appointment. I got a balayage, hair trimming, layering and face framing, and she styled it beautifully before I left. I’d definitely recommend!

Kayla is a gem! She styled my hair for a gala, and not only did it look stunning, but it lasted all night without a single touch-up needed.

The staff here are all great. I have been for several blowouts and styles with different stylists and I always leave with my hair looking fantastic.

Hannah has refreshed my blonde several times now and it’s always the perfect tone and a nicely blended grow out!

I had a marvelous experience at Salon Fiorella. After my long-time stylist retired, I spent a year bouncing from salon to salon trying to find a place that could you give me silver blonde highlights AND cut my hair the way I like it. I had a few bad experiences on that journey, so by the time I walked into Fiorella, my expectations were low. I was impressed first by the look of the place. The salon is spacious and has a minimalist elegance, bright white and full of mirrors. I was also impressed by the customer service, which is welcoming and attentive. I started with a consult appointment with Alex, a colour specialist. I showed her photos of the silvery blonde I was hoping to achieve and she said no problem. I went back the following week and was thrilled with what she did. As my colour was processing, all around me, I saw happy ladies like myself, gossiping, reading magazines, just enjoying being pampered. I felt like I was in a Pedro Almodovar movie. Alex gave me the bright highlights I wanted around my face and Mina gave me the best, most luxurious shampoo and head massage I've ever had at a salon. Alisha did a great job of my cut. Checking out, I was surprised by how reasonable the charge was considering how many people had looked after me. On top of all this, the staff seem genuinely happy. Many of them have worked for this salon since it was Rinaldos in a different location decades ago. Happy long-time staff are always a good sign. I'm relieved to have finally found a salon where I feel I'm in capable hands. I look forward to my next appointment.

Best hair salon experience ever! All the staff are incredible they are so sweet right from the moment you enter the salon and immediately attend to your needs and beyond. Parisa did an AMAZING job, not only was she sooo kind and constantly checking in with me throughout the process, she delivered the best results i have ever received. This is the first time i left a hair salon so happy. The great prices are also a huge bonus! I highly recommend this salon and Parisa!!!

Jia, my stylist, gave me such a super cute haircut! She might be the only one in Ottawa who can make me look this good! She’s not only talented but also incredibly kind and beautiful. I highly recommend booking an appointment with her soon because she’s super popular. You won’t regret it!

This is my 3rd time coming to Salon Rouge and having my hair done by Jane. It is always such a pleasant experience as they offer coffee/tea/water, have prompt service, and have fair prices.

I have very thick and dense hair, so Jane is transparent about the pricing before the service depending on how much product is needed.

I am always very happy with the result and look forward to my next visit!

Are you a builder? Fitting up a new construction rental? They can spec your entire unit for less than it cost me to get copies of my drawings. Also, good service every time we go.

Did all my way there to realize that the showroom no longer exists. Google still have pictures of the showroom, also the website says nothing about they closed it. Guy on back of the building told me they closed it but I can still buy online. Who cares about online? There are tons of other online stores. The only reason I was buying from this store is the showroom where I can see what I'm buying.

BEWARE. It appears they have closed down their showroom/gone out of business in Kanata but there is NO indications of that online. I would definitely call before showing up which is the mistake I made.

We were greeted at the door after calling in by a lovely and very helpful associate. The showroom is large enough to suit many styles of lighting. The prices are great when you consider other big box store prices. We shall be back soon to check up on the ever changing inventory.

Our first visit was a bit awkward as they were closing earlier than posted due to Covid, the girl who was in the showroom kept turning off the lights even though they were open. She made us initially feel like we shouldn't be there even though it was well before closing time.

Upon returning the next day we had a similar experience until the girl explained it wasn't her primary job while my wife waited for me to meet her in the showroom.

Once she went back and had Melissa come out, this turned our experience around 110%.

From that point on everything and everyone was great. We found what we were looking for. Great place, great staff, great prices especially if you can find the sale/clearance products. Would recommend 100%

I visited the Sandy Hill Community centre while attending the Japanese Summer Festival. It's a lovely, versatile space. The upper area (gym?) had several vendors displaying their wares, but the number of visitors likely overwhelmed the air conditioning system, as it was extremely hot and difficult to stay in that location for any length of time. I felt bad for the vendors.
The washrooms were clean, and the water-filling stations were very appreciated on this extremely hot day, bestowing us the gift of cold refreshing water.

Staff were pleasant and easy to find someone to answer my question. Extremely clean despite having a summer camp with oodles of children running about. Easy to access as a wheelchair user.

Sandy Hill Community Health Centre has been our trusted clinic for over a decade, and it truly stands out as one of the best in Ottawa. The staff is always friendly and professional, offering bilingual service that reflects the inclusivity. They provide a wide range of services, we’ve always felt supported and well cared for throughout the years.

While their phone lines are often busy, I genuinely appreciate that they take the time to call when future appointments need to be scheduled. Their same-day clinic is a lifesaver, with excellent doctors and nurses who are attentive and thorough. Another big plus—they offer access to online documents like lab requisitions and other forms when needed, which makes things so much easier. A reliable, compassionate clinic that continues to serve the community with heart.

Plenty of activities for kids and adults, events centre, pop-up shops, gymnasium, outdoor pool and big greenspace for lounging and playing sports. Well-maintained indoors and outside, building is air conditioned.

It is a good Community Centre with many activities for both adults and for children. the outside park area is large , so lots of space to play ball or on the structures . There is a kid pool and also a basketball net . Lots of benches for relaxing and unwinding too.

Absolutely beautiful flowers and even nicer people! I highly highly recommend this fabulous floral shop for the flowers and the service.
This is the second time our family has ordered a floral arrangement for my Mom and both arrangements have been stunning. The owners (a mom and son ) went above and beyond adding special touches - little bird sitting amongst the flowers and extra flowers and fillers just because, and even the message card is special (you give them the message and they print it out in lovely scripted font and attached to a card of your choice).
The service I received was stellar - what was my budget, what flowers would I prefer (they also gave recommendations for “long lasting cut flowers”), what colour of flowers does my Mom like, which message card would best suit my Mom, and then a photo of the arrangement was texted to me for my approval before delivery!
And here’s the proof! The arrangement with the pale yellow rose was for Easter (some flowers lasted almost 2 weeks) and the other with the deep pink rose was delivered today for my Mom’s 91st birthday. Beautiful 💖

I had a terrible experience with Santo Cristo Banquet Hall. They are completely unresponsive—no one answers phone calls or replies to emails, making it impossible to get any information or book with confidence. On top of that, the location details are inaccurate and will not even get you to the right place. Overall, the service is unreliable and incredibly inconvenient. I strongly recommend avoiding this venue if you’re looking for professionalism and good customer service.

The hall was absolutely beautiful, clean and organized. Ed was polite, respectful, and well accommodating. He made the entire process smooth and easy. Looking forward to having more events here in the coming future.

Nice layout and vibe at this hall. The welcoming lobby space and adjacent main hall share sliding doors between the two bars. Nicely decorated, the coloured lights were pleasing and tables were spaced out well with lots of room for the dance floor. Clean washroom facilities. Staff was pleasant. Plenty of parking.

Just had a multicultural wedding at the banquet hall. The hall is big and fairly new. Has all the amenities that a function would need. From multi lighting options, great dancing floor, and optional 2 bars. Working with Edgar, was a pleasure.

Saunders Farm is the best farm I've ever seen. Large, beautiful, cozy and full of a variety of activities. I spent a morning until evening with my family and I would like to have an experience for the night plan on this farm next time.

Really enjoyed a day out here with the family. Unlike many other frms we've been to, this one is meticulously maintained. Staff was very nice. Zipline was included as part of the ticket. We also had a tour on tractor driven cart. There are hedge mazes here too along which was a unique experience. This is a highly recommended place for a family day out.

Would not recommend Haunted Hayride for people with back sensitivity or mobility issues. Very jarring to the body.

Grounds are visually spectacular . Lots for patrons to see if they choose not to do amusements.
We will definitely be making this a yearly tradition.
For those in Southern Ontario definitely worth the travel to enjoy this venue.

Visiting Saunders Farm during Christmas is an absolute delight! The farm transforms into a winter wonderland with stunning light displays, festive decorations, and cozy holiday vibes. The Christmas Light Walk is a highlight, featuring beautifully lit trails that feel magical and perfect for all ages.

Guests can enjoy activities like fire pits, and live entertainment, creating a warm and cheerful atmosphere. The staff are friendly, and the holiday treats, like hot cocoa and seasonal snacks, add a delicious touch to the experience.

It’s a fantastic spot for families, couples, and anyone looking to soak in the Christmas spirit. Highly recommended for a memorable holiday outing!

Nice venue, I saw Crywank here in April 2023. Bar doesn’t serve much alcoholic drinks, and you’re not supposed to bring any water bottles inside (understandable). Coat check was $2 each if I recall correctly. Very lowkey spot with nice lighting. Not quite the same energy as live music in a bar/pub though.

Club Saw was a great venue! Even better they had Kroy from Milk & Bone! She was incredible!

Ghostly kisses rocked the place! Highly recommend. Patio for smokes/vaping. Parking was close by also!

Excellent service — welcoming and knowledgeable florists with a “can do” attitude. Less than a week before my daughter’s wedding, we had to scramble to find a florist to help with a large arrangement and a six foot garland. Scrims was more than willing to help. The arrangements were stunning. A week later, many of the flowers were still beautiful.

I stopped by today to pick out a couple of plants for my office space. I have a North-facing window, so the lovely sales associate (whose name I *should* have requested but forgot to) helped me with some lower light options. I am thrilled with the beautiful pothos she helped me pick out, as well as the hardy little snake plant. On top of the incredible quality of their product, they offer fair prices. Thank you for a great experience!

The BEST place to purchases plants from locally! I walk by Scrim’s everyday and the plants in their window are always so full and beautiful. I decided to take the plunge and purchase 3 new plants and two pots for my jungle. The plants were so FULL and even had a bunch of new baby leaves getting ready. I was very surprised for the price of the plants how full they were. I will definitely be back soon to purchase more plants!!

My favourite florist in the city! I've gotten lots of my amazing plants from them and I love how they are always super helpful with questions and if you need any help with your plant care after your purchase they are always there for you. Amazing selection and great quality.

Great selection of plants and pots. Occasionally has some very unique plants that are difficult to find in Ottawa. Also has some unique planters. I find the prices slightly high for plants/pots, but given it is spacious and in the core, I totally understand.

This is our third or fourth time ordering custom flowers from Chantal. I cannot recommend her enough. Her arrangements are absolutely stunning. We ordered some flowers for our moms very small wedding this past weekend - and we couldn't be happier with how they turned out. We asked for two small table arrangements, a garland for the center of the table and a small bouquet for her to hold. The amount of care and detail Chantal puts into her flowers is second to none. She also snuck in a small boutonniere for the groom with an extra bloom she had. I recommend her to absolutely everyone and I will continue to use her for every event (personal or corporate) that we have. She truly has a gift! Thank you so much, Chantal. I'm so glad I ordered that first bouquet from you years ago - what would I do without you for all my events?

Nice building, library looked nice. Staff at the city service counter were extremely rude to not only myself but others just trying to get their documents in check. Felt as if every effort to turn people away was used and their check in system is clearly being abused to accomplish as little as humanly possible. Witnessed staff members be extremely patronizing to atleast two older citizens having troubles with the sign in station and rude to the young couple next to me trying to get their marriage license. Having spent nearly an hour and a half waiting for my turn to speak to someone it was very clear that many people leaving the counter were visibly frustrated by how they were treated by these so called "city servants". During my time at the counter I was met with rude tones and what felt like several attempts to make me give up my request in an interrogative fashion, I did not allow myself to stoop to the level of the woman I was speaking with as I was confident in arriving fully prepared to get what I needed done. Highly disappointed that tax payer dollars are funding what is clearly a toxic and inefficient work environment that is supposed to serve the people of Ottawa. I get that work can be stressful and that resources may not be all there but it doesn't cost a dime to be polite to people.

Staff at city of Ottawa service desk were extremely rude and less than helpful to say the least. Our interaction was less than 2 minutes long in an empty office and I can confidently say if I’m ever in need of their services again I will be visiting a different location.

Worst building ever, it’s a publicly tax payer funded parking lot and building and they have security to make sure you don’t park there and are beyond rude, this one round in shape security officer is the rudest person I’ve ever met she gets off on yelling at you and will refuse to give her name

Went here to register a used car. Came in with no appointment. In and out within 1 hour. The clerk was bilingual, super friendly.

They should rectify the open hours of this business to accommodate the 9 to 5 average working class. Evening open hours would make this much more convenient.

Visited Service Ontario at City Hall today and had an excellent experience! I went to Counter 13, where May, the representative, was incredibly helpful. I asked about getting a photo card, and she took the time to ask about my plans for driving in the future and if I had a valid driver's license from the Philippines. Based on my answers, she suggested I take the driving test to get a Canadian driver's license, which would be more beneficial. Her advice was really valuable, especially since I'm new to Canada. Additionally, she processed my OHIP application, which was a big relief. It's worth noting that I had previously visited the Bank Street Service Ontario office, and they didn't know that PR applicants with an eligibility letter are eligible for OHIP, so it was great to get the correct information and service here. Big thumbs up to May at Counter 13 for being knowledgeable and helpful!

Located at City Hall. Pedestrian access best at Laurier as it is closest but for vehicle drop off and pick up is best via Lisgar.
Book appointment in advance, enter phone number at front kiosk and tickets are issued. Very efficient process and staff are very helpful.
Toilets are “All Gender” and may not be for everyone. Found it confusing for some reason and I don’t know why but it felt uneasy and anxious. Maybe just the newness of it all.
A very good recommendation for a location to choose as it seems to be quite capable of serving a lot of clients efficiently.

Important note: Use of debit card or credit card seem best.

This afternoon, my daughter and I went to the Service Ontario office on Laurier Street in Ottawa. I was extremely impressed with the efficiency of the location, but most especially with the assistance we received from an agent (Yar) working there. She was extremely helpful, obviously very competent, and patiently answered the questions we posed. She dealt with what we needed done very quickly, so that while our appointed time was delayed by a few minutes we left long before we expected.

On Monday 23 June 2025 In Ottawa City Hall Service #904, we had above the best & friendly service at #14 with Ashley & May/Meg. We returned for June Wells' Ontario Card. Reception already had June Wells as Priority because this system was down in Ontario till afternoon or later. We found June's latest passport and a former drivers licence for 2010. With a no-smile photo of June's otherwise elated face, $35 by c.card & Aeroplan points, she now awaits the Ontario Card in the mail for about 4-6 weeks. Joy indeed!

Such pleasure always at City Hall. We are 2 blocks away, happy to be there often. Also for art works, Ottawa Rock history (Elvis!), events and the occasional pianists who are excellent. Please thank Ashley & #14 for making our day very special - we had spent a weekend NOT finding the passport!

Shannon & Kendra did hair for my recent wedding, for my 6 bridesmaids, my mom, and myself and they did an amazing job! They had 8 very different hairstyles to do and they made it seem so smooth and effortless. And the final results speak for themselves! Everyone looked & felt great! My bun even withstood energetic dancing to Newfoundland music.

Shannon was also super helpful at my trial, helping me choose the right style for my hair, so I knew we would be in good hands. Leading up to the wedding, she answered all my questions about hair accessories and accommodated the late addition of an extra person. I would definitely work with Shannon again and would recommend her to any Ottawa bride!

Shannon graciously stepped in to assist my original hair and makeup artist Amber when unexpected circumstances arose, ensuring everything still ran seamlessly on my wedding day. She did the hair for my bridesmaids, and each style was gorgeous, personalized, and lasted all day and night. Beyond her talent, Shannon brought kindness, calm, and professionalism, exactly what you want on your wedding day. Highly recommend!

Highly recommend!! Shannon was so great through the whole process from the trial to my actual wedding day, she’s been great. My make-up and hair were perfect from morning to the end of the night. She did a fantastic job bringing my vision to life.

I also want to shout out Amber who did the hair and make up for my bridesmaids. They all loved their looks and Amber was so helpful and friendly! She was able to do exactly what they wanted and everyone looked amazing.

I don’t think there’s a hairstyle on earth that Shannon couldn’t do. Just given the sheer experience and expertise she has behind her, you can trust you’re in good hands. Shannon did my wedding hairdo and I went with a somewhat softly romantic, retro style – not something that I thought was frequently requested or very current, but with only a few reference photos, Shannon was good to go. She’s always willing to step in for others and you can tell how much she’s eager to help. On top of that, she’s fun, personable, detailed, and simply a wonderful presence.

Shannon was so much fun to work with. She always gave super cool tips and made the process so enjoyable. I was really happy with my makeup and hair. It lasted the whole night without needing any touchups and I got so many nice complements :) Shannon listened to my story of our ceremony plans and incorporated our planned infinity knot into my updo. It was perfect and pure creative genius!
Kendra also worked wonders on my bridesmaids and was so helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend SD beauty for a wedding.

Shawn is outstanding at what he does. We met him for the first time on site for the photos, and it was immediately like we were all long-time friends. Working with Shawn I could tell he lovs what he does and has a passion for photographing, he made us feel like a million bucks, and like every single shot was the best he's ever captured. I love his style, and that he used film as well as digital. We loved the photos he took, and I am currently in the process of trying to choose one to print huge for our wall.
